It was December 21, anciently it was the solstice of winter and a pagan celebration would take place. In their modern Cristian days it was celebrated a lantern festival. People dorm the town would get together and make thousands of lanters to float to the sky , dance and eat together.
The Dormer estate was barren from staff as soon as the sun began to go down. The servants had the evening off to enjoy the celebrations ans that left the Duke and Duchess alone at the large home.
Fabian felt giddy and happy. They had spent the whole day together and it had not been awkward.
A few hours ago exhausted his wife had fallen asleep on the room that remained filled with flowers for him. Fabian was reading by the fire light and whenever his wife stirred he would stand and go to her to arrange her blankets and keep her warm so she wouldn't catch a cold.
