They have a pretty strict screening process. If you seem suspicious or seem like you want to join for the wrong reasons, you will not be let in. This group a very important safe space for the people involved to express their feelings and experiences openly without fear of judgement or being gawked at.
Just my personal opinion (at the risk of coming off as self-righteous)...if you're considering asking to join for any reason other than because you want to support or educate yourself on trans* issues, it would probably be best to leave them alone.
