Sailor and a Selkie ((w/ bhdire8 and Lovebite))

The trip to the fabric shop was easy and relatively filled with no one really bothering them, it was the trip to Irwin's childhood home that was the hard part. His mother had invited them in a few moments before, she was now in the kitchen fixing them lunch. While they waited in the living room for his father to get back from work along with his cousins, the smaller human took this time to start on his lovers shirt also.

Max was discontent just sitting there so he shifted closer and closer to th3 little human, trying to have a better look of what he was doing. He shifted his angles, trying to peek through his dexterous fingers to look at his handicraft. Max snaked a hand behind Irwin's back, expertly finding his way yhrough and settling at an angle that would push Irwin forward a bit so he would nudge into Max's side. Max broke a little cheeky smile as he succeeded and Irwin bumped into his chest when he put a bit of pressure on.

Irwin thought about the life they would have soon enough, he sat at his mother's work table with a pedal powered sewing machine and worked on the hem of his partners shirt as he hummed, without distraction until Max messed with him again and the moving needle poked his finger through. "Ouch! Max!"He snapped, not thinking about it before he did it, it had broke the skin and a bead of blood pooled to the tip of his finger. The human bit his lip and stood up from the bench as he sucked on his finger,"Goddammit..."He muttered and moved towards the hallway from the recreation room, going to look for a bandage in the bathroom.

"Oops..." max looked at his mate's bloodstained finger and shrank behind on the couch like a puppy that was kicked. He watched on as his mate left the room, quite lost at what he should do now. Irwin walked with a controlled waddle, with a crossed look on his face. He stood up slowly, intending to follow his mate but almost bumped into his "mother in law" that he had interpreted himself, and had to handle the awkward situation where Irein's mothrr sat down with him. The poor quiet woman was socially very awkward, and Max being a non-human, had difficulty finding mutual topics as well. He glanced at the room where Irwin disappeared into, desperate for him to return to break the awkward silence.

When Irwin came back out, he saw the pitiful attempt at conversation between his mate and mother, smiling some as he finished placing the bandage around his finger,"How are you two getting along?"He asked and resisted the want to run his fingers through Max's hair as he sat with such an adorable look,"Mom have you fixed any lunch?"He asked and for a moment he left his hand on the larger male's shoulder,"I'm afraid Max has eaten me out of house and home already and I haven't had time to shop."He bit his lip to keep from saying resources as well when he moved to sit at the table again where he was almost halfway done with the shirt for Max.

Max almost popped up the moment he saw Irwin re entering the room. He relaxrd back down when his mate came towards him and almost gleamed feeling Irwin's hand resting on his shoulder. He shoot up towards Irwin as he fitted himself over the table again, this time keeping his distance even.though he was hoveribg over the human to watch him.working, not wanting to hurt his mate again. He smiled briefly at his mother in law as he stood. "I have heard from Irwin that your cooking is quite famous in the village even, I would be honored to have a taste of it."

Irwin glanced up at Max as he hovered, soon finishing up the hem of the shirt and sitting back again, he used his teeth to cut the string then held the shirt up to Max. "Your first shirt."he murmured to him, smiling lightly, patting his chest,"Go try it on and I may get mom to get out some leftovers for us."

Max looked at the shirt , then at Irwin with a dazed face. "Y-yea,... first shirt. yea I am gonna try it on!" He said excitedly and went on to remove his own clothings right on spot, but just when he was about to lift up his shirt, he stopped and went back to Irwin's side, anxiously puling the chair out and helping him onto his feet. He remebered sometimes Irwin would have sleeping legs when he had sat for too long, and therefore was anxious ot see through his every movement.

The human smiled softly at Max as he seemed dazed by the sight of the first personal item he's owned, he was his big puppy. Irwin's eyes widened when he saw his partner about to undress, about to stop him as he reached to him,"Max."he was glad he stopped and rose an eyebrow as he came closer to him, letting him help him from the table,"Thank you."he said when he was standing again, he met his eyes, then looked to his mom,"So what did you all have for dinner last night?"he asked, knowing he couldn't show to much affection towards Max in front of his mother, their relationship was already on the brink of being strange in the eyes of outsiders looking in.

The selkie was oblivious to his actions being inappropriate, and thereby continued to lift his shirt up behind Irwin's back to try on his new shirt. He looked lovingly at the new garment and just flashed his front. He was lucky Irwin's mother just happens to turn around to search through their cupboard and fridge to find anything avialable for them. "We got tuna last night.. your dad managed to catch a big load. We still got a few freezed up, do you want to take them?" She asked searching through the freezer. "Do you need any pickles? A new batch had come out from Mrs Hastings's shop and I bought a few bottles.... You could take one with you." She said working thorugh the overhead cabinets.

The human was short and barely blocked anything from view as Max lifted his shirt and dragged on the other, he took the old small shirt from him. "Does it fit right?"he asked the selkie, looking him over and helping him button up the front, smoothing the fabric against his skin. While his mother was talking about food,"We'll take whatever you have to spare, ma. Anything's good, especially fish."he nodded up at Max and then went towards his mother to help her out, grabbing a bottle of pickles for her despite almost being as short as her.

If they had been in their own home, Max wouldnt allow for that. What Irwin's calves chose to cramp right that moment? It's also scary seeing him on tiptoe while his belly was heavily hanging in front of him, even though somewhat obscured by his clothes. He was ready to leap forward tp catch Irwin but luckily, nothinv happened. He smoothed over his new shirt that fitted him quite nicely, and settled himself on the floor, curling his legs up and just looked at Irwin interact with his mother.

The young human man gathered the food into a small box for Max to carry, looking towards him then hugging his mother from the side, making sure not to press his belly into her. "I'll see you later, ma."he said and kissed her cheek before turning,"Max grab that box will you? We can go now."he made sure his own shirt wasn't too revealing of his round waistline.

Max leapt up to hsi feet excitedly and nodded. "Yea, yea. Thanks Madam, it's very nice to meet you." He flashed one of his disarming smiles and took the box, then waited for Irwin to leave, taking the lead while he escorted him, pressing a hand o his lower back as they walked out of the door. With his superb vision, he could see a shadow that looked suspiviously like Irwin's father approaching. He quickly pressrd closer to the human and warned. "Irwin! Your dad's coming back... keep walking and we could duck at the side to avoid him."

Irwin waddled slowly beside Max as they walked forward towards his truck,"What?"he glanced back to see what the other was talking about,"Oh, yeah, okay."he said,"It's fine."he held his arm for a moment, looking forward toward his vehicle,"Go ahead get in."he pushed him along,"I'm okay."he moved to open the drivers door and climb inside, starting the engine and glancing at his father before pulling out of the driveway.

Through the rear mirror, he could see the old man looking at the truck with confusion, and as he made the connection, he attempted to wavr at them to stop, which thankfully Irwin didnt. "Go go go! He's trying to chase us! Keep going!" Max's gotten.nervous himself and urged Irwin,though thankfullythey were away qyickly. "Yep he wasnt coming anymore.... phew. That's close. I dont like that man, your father." Max said honestly from his heart.

"Calm down, Max."he said, keeping a hand on the wheel and the other patting the large male's leg as he drove down the street, smiling softly at how freaked out he got. "My dad's not crazy, just a bit... grumpy at times."he glanced at his partner and lifted a hand to stroke his cheek gently then place both hands on the wheel again,"Why is that?"he asked in reply to what he told him.

"He treated you so badly!" The selkie exclaimed. "and he had been so ruthless while chasing my partners in the sea. I get that he catch fishes for a living, but so do you. He would just slaughter the seals that was trapped by his nets though. I saw quite a lot of them getting killed on board, yet we could do nothing to save them..." Max shook his head, disapproving the way of working his father adopted. "I had thought I would met the same fate when I met you while I was injured... "

"He's still my father."he said gently, exhaling quietly and looking to Max,"I'm sorry, Max, he's... He doesn't know about what you are, he doesn't even know I'm gay, or carrying their grandchild." He could barely wrap his own mind around it, he stroked his partners cheek and jaw, the puppy was sweet and only wanted the best for anyone. Though it was hard to debate with, he patted his knee and smiled softly as he squeezed his leg,"I'm sorry that happened to your friends, I am, but it's obvious now that we'll start a family, we'll have pups and we'll fill a house with them, how about that?"

Max shook his head. "No, you shouldnt need t9 apologize. You are not your father... and i am so grateful you are nothing likr him. I quite like your mother actually." He smiled brightly recalling the woman who was kind enough to share them food. The selkie was honest and direct in letting his feelings known. "Of course I love you the best, above everything. You are more important than any pups, but yes, feeling the house with all our babies is quite a great future to look forward to." He spoke like a proud father already, clutching Irwin's hand.
