Why do people not disclose their gender on here?

Just curious why some on here don't disclose their gender? As I only actually want to roleplay with females it can be frustrating knowing whether to contact people or reply to PM's.

Because nobody is obligated to share personal information with a stranger on the internet?

And besides, if one's gender is that important to you, you can always chat with them to get to know them rather than just for RP. Once you know someone beyond a username and vague description on the internet, they might open up a little more. If they're not the RP partner you're looking for, you move along. There's nothing wrong with just talking to other people with whom you have common interests.
