C Traveling Merchant (w/secretsparrow)

Howard was careful with the baby as he supported her head and dug a small ditch with his heel then kicked the placenta into it before covering it back up. He quieted her down gently when she began whimpering again and rocked from one foot to the other as he rubbed her back, eyes watching her's. While he let Aden rest, he cleaned out a backpack and stuffed it full of soft things he could find of theirs before sitting her inside gently. He then put her on his chest as he then took the other sleeping bag to cover the human gently, taking a seat beside him silently and waiting now.

Aden meant to sleep only an hour but in all reality it was more then that, his body needed the rest even if he thought he could keep pushing himself. He sat up it was evening by this time. "Howard?" He mumbled rubbing his eyes he looked to the baby then at the backpack and chuckled lightly, that was sight Aden hadn't thought he would ever see.

Howard didn't move to wake him up as he slept, he even rested a little himself, though kept himself on high alert for anyone coming up their part of the road. He kept everyone as warm as possible even though at the bottom of the mountain things were warmer, his eyes opened partially when he heard Aden,"I'm here."he replied, his arms were hooked through the straps of the backpack and he rose an eyebrow at the laugher,"What? My arms got tired, plus she squirms less this way."he smiled softly at the human and folded his legs as he pushed himself upright again,"Are you ready now?"he asked, watching him as he awoke fully.

"It's just.. cute is all and I think so." He slowly managed to get to his feet, he was still sore and tired from everything but it wasn't as bad as it had been before and he would probably be alright to travel now.

"I'm glad I amused you then."he had a smile on his face as he reached out with one arm to help him up to his feet fully, then gently move the girl in the bag so she laid against her birth father's chest instead, wrapping the straps around him and stroking his hair gently before kissing his head softly. He held him with his hands on his shoulders for a moment, before lifting him up by the waist and placing him up on the horse as carefully as he could,"We'll go pick you up some painkillers."he said and climbed on with him, grasping onto the reigns and starting off after rolling up the sleeping bag to get rid of it later,"And some food for her."he added, though he didn't refer to her by her name, he acknowledged her and almost seemed proud when he thought of her so this wouldn't be hard if they just got over this first great bump in their travels.

Aden nodded, The horse still wasn't comfortable but he could manage for a short time, long enough to get into town to get pain meds anyway. "I guess, in a way it's good we never made it to town last night." Aden said after awhile he had still been thinking about it a lot what would they have done to him if he had delivered the child in town? He was sure he cared for the little girl but the whole idea still felt strange that this thing had come from him.

Howard glanced back at Aden as they trotted down the road,"Yeah, I can see why you say that."he replied, his brows pinched together as he thought about something now in silence before adding,"We were lucky, I suppose."he gave the human more clarity, his stomach felt sick from his own realizations of his species. Was he not what he thought he was? Was he born not of his mother like he thought? He had helped his mother with birthing his sister, but had he not come the same way? His sister was human, and yet he was sure by the little horn nubs on their daughter's head that she wasn't human. Did conception have something to do with what he was? He wished that there was some elder he could go to and ask, or even his own father. If only.

They made it into town and they were glanced at before the townspeople continued their afternoon activities, the two men were seen before they headed up the mountain. So they weren't new to them, Howard was greatful for that at least as he stopped his horse at the corner pharmacy and store, climbing off,"Coming with me?"he asked Aden,"Would you like to pick some other things out for her? She can't live in that shirt for too much longer."

Aden nodded slowly and with a bit of help managed to get down, he could tell something was bothering Howard but decided it best to ask him when they were leaving town again. He held the baby close to him as they went into the drug store. They picked up pain medication along with some mew cloths for the baby, Aden actually spent awhile looking he was careful about what he picked out. He wasn't sure Howard cared much for fashion and nether did Aden but he managed to match colors well enough picking red and pinks.

The story was pretty quiet at the moment wich was good, he wondered what they would say if someone asked them a question. After all they had not gone up the mountain with a baby.

"Don't forget diapers...maybe a passifier if she's fussy."he spoke aloud, though as he looked toward the bookbag where Hanna rested, he didn't think she would be too much of a problem child. Besides her being born, there hadn't been any loud crying or fidgiting, though she was only a few hours old, he wondered who she would turn out to be. With his hand resting on the small of Aden's back as he looked over the small selection of infant clothing, he didn't say anything, just watched him as he searched for pretty things for Hanna. The name had grown on him.

One of the owners of the shop came up to them, they had stopped here before, or at least Howard did and he looked towards the old lady curiously,"Hello."he said and she nodded a greeting as well, tilting her head slightly and smiling down into the open bag.

"Does their grand parents live up on the mountain?"she asked, seeming a bit off, she was thinking that maybe they had come a while back to drop the child off and was just now coming back for her. "he looks so young, are you sure it's okay to leave him without his mother?"

Aden had been distracted he was just going threw everything when he heard the voice and turned his head, he was caught off guard. "Hmm, oh.. uh.. He didn't want to lie but it occurred to him he might need to. He should have thought of something proper to say he looked towards Howard for help, If asked why he was acting so strange he could always brush it off as being tired, he still looked tired anyway. In his hands he held the baby and a small basket of things they would need that he had already picked up.He simply didn't really know how to awnser the question.

The older woman wasn't as alert as the man who seemed to take care of her who stood behind the counter at the front of the shop and didn't seem to mention anything about the small knobs that were on their daughter's head, the start of her horns, he knew he would have to teach her how to disguise herself soon enough. Howard had went down the isle to look over some more supplies, grabbing two bottles of painkillers then meeting the younger man's eyes when he looked toward him, coming back as he seemed distressed at the woman's prying. "She's ours."he said,"No mother." It was rare to be that way, though it was what they were and the world was too old for it to be a problem in their society, though the woman looked confused she didn't say much else besides,"She looks like you." The senile woman then pranced off, the man watched and then helped by taking the basket from his partner, placing the things he's picked in it as well before heading to the register, the man seemed less interested in them than his wife and they were heading back out again to his horse,"Now... Where to?"he asked,"An inn? I'm sure the both of you need rest."
