Custom User Titles
#1
Who uses them? I'm amazed not as many people do. At first I was hesitant because I thought it was like some sort of special title thingy and didn't want to make myself sound more official than I actually was. At first I picked the title "editor" because I've offered my editing services here on the site, but I was afraid that sounded too official and didn't want people confusing me with a mod or something. That's when, after getting inspiration in the thread about egg (and larval) birth, I went with my current user title.

Do you use it? If so, what does your title mean?

I did not know about this feature. I use the site through my phone so things can be quite tiny. *waddles off to find said feature*

I discovered that feature pretty quickly ^^

I took advantage almost as quickly, lol

I've been noticing those titles and wondered about them!! I love the quirkiness and humor in each of your chosen titles. I must do some soul searching and come up with who I am - at least for today.

LOL glad to know I'm spreading public awareness about it. I think I need to change mine though... kind of sounds a little too dark for me right now. It reminds me of the Zerg or Dragon Age...

Anyone have any suggestions for me? I almost wish there was a feature where we could vote on people's titles or something... maybe a community thing to get to know other users? I don't know... just being silly now =P

Broodmother? Dark? I didn't think so. Made me think of wisdom, mentor, someone to look up to and count on, good thinks like that. Maybe it's because I don't know anything about Zerg or Dragon Age...

Brood mother is a term synonymous with evil simply because the shear number of progeny is usually unfathomable. We feel differently for having such a gift.

Oh I know; there's nothing inherently wrong with the word at all. It just so happens the only two places I've heard it used are for the Zerg in Starcraft and the monstrosities in Dragon Age. Plus, if anything, the word "brood" just isn't the most personable or nice sounding word.

<---- [The keyword being Industrial!]

I kind of got it from that TV show title "I'm Pregnant, and...."
Like I said, I'm a Rivethead through and through!

And here's a brief and clever definition thanks to Urban Dictionary:

RIVETHEAD

Someone who enjoys the darker industrial side of techno, or more accurately, the more aggressive stompy side of industrial music. The rivethead is ridiculed equally by the old school industrial fans as well as the newer cyber crowd, but is usually too busy stomping to Caustic, Feindflug or Die Krupps to give a damn. Rivetheads are commonly thought of as being supremely elitist but behind those outsized military goggles there often lies a knowing sense of humour--hell, you'd need one if you dressed for war just to go clubbing.
"You call yourself a rivethead? I invented that shit. You wanna stomp to Death Method, you owe me royalties." --Chase of Reconstriction records (he may or may not have actually said this)

Cause when I'm not in my maternity pants, I dress very post-apocalyptic and can still pull off an overdue baby belly!

Visser5, that's kind of crazy. I just finished writing in another thread where you said you were a two-spirit too and described my "discovery" of all the different gender-identity terminology. There was one guy I met that was actually local and a "gender fluid" during the time I was investigating that title. When he wasn't in full drag, based on what I learned about him, he was a rivethead too. I guess it's just us running into other people under the same umbrella of counter-culturism!

I keep wanting to but then I don't because I don't know what to put...

Goddess is what I'd put but obviously, it's already my name lol

Ehh, I guess I know what to put...

It's fun changing it, Goddess. I -clearly- like to alter my avatar on a somewhat regular basis and I usually change my user title to match. It gives me great joy X3

Oh, I don't pay much of the attention apparently.... Never even looked into this. Thought it was designated to those who ask or something. I dunno, I'd rather be humble, and I feel that's hard if I chose it for myself, lol. Can we start a thread where people like me can ask others to pick our title?! ;D
