Dr. Sommer smiled and nodded, happy to know, that Eric trusted him so much. "Thank you for those words, Eric. Of course I will be there. We will go through this together and I will do everything to make you comfortable", he said and smiled, while patting onto Eric's strong shoulder.

Dr. Sommer started to laugh. "Well, I have to admit: Even tough I am specialized on male pregnancies, I have never been pregnant myself. My beloved wife Julia was the one who got pregnant. I offered her to become pregnant, but she absolutely wanted to do it..........and as you know: Women have their own way of thinking and so I agreed.......", he said and smiled.

Dr. Sommer flinches as he hears the splash and looks down to Eric's legs, which were covered with the blanket. A light yellow, but in total quite clear fluid dripped from under the blanket and dropped to the floor.
He raised an eyebrow. "Wow.........", he said and instinctively put one hand onto Eric's shoulder, which seemed to tense up now.

Dr. Sommer became a bit more serious. "I don't know.......", he whispered and went to the wet surface of the blanket to investigate the fluid. He pulled out some gloves from his coat and put them over his hands, before reaching out to the fluid, touching it with two fingers and rubbing it between them. The doctor felt, that the consistence of the fluid was not like water, it was a bit more mucilaginous..........
"Well........it seems so........the consistence of the fluid and the amount of it would be a sign for amniotic fluid.........", he explained.
He thought about the whole situation.........Eric wasn't having contractions yet, so how could that be ??

Dr. Sommer opens his eyes wider and lies his hand onto Eric's shoulder. "Okay, there they are", he thinks by himself.
"It's alright, Eric........take nice deep breaths and try to stay relaxed......it will only rest for about 30 seconds", he said with a gentle voice, trying to calm the poor young man.

Dr. Sommer nodded. "That's it, you're doing great.......in and out, in and out", he said with a calm voice, raising his arm and looking at his watch.
After 30 seconds, the contraction slowly faded and allowed Eric to relax.
The doctor looked up from his watch and into the eyes of the young father to be. "You did great.......the contractions will help your body to dilate your birth canal, your rectum and your entrance", he explained and smiled.

Dr. Sommer considered the question. "Well, as this was your first contraction, it's not easy to say, but the next one should come in about 10-15 minutes", he explained.
"Shall I help you to change your clothes in the meantime........they became a bit wet", he said and smiled.

Dr. Sommer helped him and nodded with a smile. "I guess so too", he replied and took his wet pants. "Okay, Eric. Just a question, because you are naked now..........what would you like to wear for the birth ??", Dr. Sommer asked and took the wet blanket and bed sheets as well. "You could......you could be completely naked, you could wear a long hospital shirt, that reaches almost to your knees...........and, oh yes, you could wear socks.......warm feet often help to make the contractions come faster.........but it's up to you of course", he explained and smiled, throwing the wet stuff into a box next to the bathroom.
