It took days for them to reach even the states closest to the coast, though by then they all needed to rest somewhere other than the back of his dad's truck,"Can we stop at a motel or something?"He murmured, yawning as he stretched widely in the passenger seat, looking back into the back at the car seat that held his son,"I think Luke's getting sick of the car too."He reached back, opening the hood of the seat and stroking his hair.

James nods. They drive for another hour or two before finding a motel for the night after stopping to grab some take out for dinner. They get everything into the room before James moves to lay back on one of the beds.

Taking Luke into the room with him after grabbing all they needed for the night, he sat on the floor with his son on his lap and flipped through the channels on tv, glancing down at the baby who was going to chew on his phone,"-hey."He said gently and took the phone from him, kissing his head and looking at his notifications for a moment,"Pop called."He sighed, standing up and going to hand over Luke to James,"I'm going to go call him."

James takes Luke into his arms before watching James Jr disappear outside.

His son was gone for a while and when he did come back, he seemed displeased as he closed the door behind himself,"I'm going out."He said and went towards the bathroom to take a quick shower then get dressed again,"Look after Luke for me?"He looked towards him, brushing his hair back.

James nods, not really feeling up to arguing with him. Once James Jr left James moves to check on Luke, finding him asleep. He gets him out of the car seat where James Jr had laid him before laying him down on the bed and laying down beside him. Soon they were both asleep.

The pup wasn't a frequenter to big gatherings of people, but he needed something to take his mind off of all the seriousness around him and the bar seemed to be the perfect place for that, what he'd never expect to find was another wolf. Close to his age and one of the most attractive men he could ever think of, he didn't go out of his way to gain a chance to talk with him nor did he make it easy on him when the other bought him drinks upon drinks. Some of most he didn't drink but humored him.

James and Luke sleep for most of the night, unaware of what James Jr was up to.

He hadn't heard his father ever speak to him about mates, he had always seen his birth father and the father than was there who raised him be with each other, he was too young to think about anything like that for himself. Though this stranger was a smooth talker and he was drunk so he was easier to get with, in that small stall of the dingy bar bathroom, it wasn't like he was taking his virginity and he was using a condom either way so nothing could happen. Or so he thought, he came back to the motel room and collapsed onto the floor after locking the door behind him, falling into a deep sleep.

James immediately smells the other wolf on his son when he wakes up the next morning. He simply stares at his sleeping form for a minute or two before coming to pick him up before laying him down in a bed to sleep.

James jr startled awake when he was picked up, cowering away into the pillows of the bed until he looked up at his father. His brows pinched together almost in confusion then sickness as he shot up and stumbled to the bathroom, collapsing against the toilet as he puked.

As James Jr emptied his stomach James started to say something about his scent but decided against it. "Can't hold your liquor?" He heads into the bathroom before running his hand along James Jr's back.

The teenager growled quietly and shyed away from the touch of his father, as he pressed himself against the wall of the motel bathroom. His eyes flashed gold for a moment, until he looked up at him then back down in shame, he stayed curled up near the toilet. "That wasn't...just liquor."He shook his head slightly, his voice was low and his brows furrowed as he tried to remember all that happened last night. His hand travelled up to his neck and pulled away as his eyes went wide when he saw the blood and began feeling the tingle on his neck through the numbness.

"Wh-What is this? What did he do?"The pup was frantic as he stood up quickly, stumbling to lean against the sink and turning his head so that he could have a better look. Though it still was unclear to him, it hurt and was even still bleeding, he had no idea what the other wolf had did,"Dad?!"

James reaches to run his fingers along the bite mark before closing his eyes for a minute or two. "He marked you, it's a bite mark."

James jr turned to his father for a moment with a defeated look on his face and sank to the floor again, pulling his knees to his chest and folding his arms. "Why would he bite me?"He didn't look up at him again, so much guilt flowed through him, a blush came from the tips of his ears and he pressed his face to his knees. Being born from a human and a wolf didn't make things any easier, he wasn't a pure blood and so he didn't catch things as easily as his father would. Somethings he wasn't even told.

James watches him for a moment before he kneels down infront of the pup. "He marked you as his...mate." He trailed off at the last word, simply sitting there for a moment before shaking his head.

The teenager looked up at James and snorted almost in disbelief,"You're joking right? It'll go away after a while, won't it?"He felt himself almost gag, holding onto his wounded throat and pressing his other palm to his face as he kept himself from bursting into tears. The pup knew he couldn't always cry his problems away, he knew that his Dad wouldn't always be there for him, and that scared him and made him want to cry even more.
