I loved it BECAUSE they put zero comedic spin on it. I'm sick and fucking tired of mpreg being funny. It's not funny to me. AT ALL. I hate mpreg comedy.
I want it to be real and that's what they did. Praise jeebus n hallelujah.

I agree Goddess, I REALLY do not like the expectation of portraying male pregnancy as a silly and humorous concept that is not taken seriously, comedy is fine and OK if it is used correctly and not at the expense of the idea, thought, concept of male pregnancy in and of itself, and not to the point that it insults men in a sexist manner.

I second Goddess's "praise jeebus." The portrayal in Birthday reminded me a lot of Iciar Bollain's short film "El Parto Es Nuestro" (also known as "Por Tu Bien" and linked on the forum elsewhere). The purpose is not to portray birth as it has to be, but to portray birth as it often is for women: frightening and over-medicalized.

I don't think it is. I just read the synopsis for it and there is no mpreg mentioned anywhere.

For those in the US, Birthday was just added to Netflix.

Anyone know where this can be watched? Just stumbled across the trailer and can't find the entire movie.
