Jacob's eyebrows pinned together. "Are you joking? That place was overgrown with vines and falling apart."
Quetzalcoatl hissed. "But it is my home. A mortal like you does not understand. Our followers used to flock to our temples, leaving gifts of flowers and fruit. They made living sacrifices to us on flaming altars. They painted their bodies in our image, praying and fasting for days, and then celebrating with festivals. How my dear brother could leave that all behind him so easily, I will never understand. It is why I cannot do all the things he is asking of me." Quetzalcoatl sighed heavily. "If I must apologize, then I apologize to you, boy. However, I cannot let go of my precious memories so easily."
