"I wish you could take it out of me..." Jacob murmured while his fingers gently traced the mark Quetzalcoatl had left on his side, making it impossible for Tecciztechatl to do anything about it. His eyelids became heavy as the moon god continued singing. The song was haunting and sweet, making Jacob think of faraway places like moonlit gardens with purple and silvery flowers. He imagined giant white moths, gentle as could be, flying lazily through the starry sky. He imagined crystal waters cascading over rocks into a pool where he could swim and teach his children to splash in the shallow ends. Jacob wondered if such a place could ever be real. Maybe the moon was like that. Maybe that's where Tecciztechatl was from. But before he could ask, Jacob had fallen asleep in the rabbit's arms.
