Alex's heart skipped a beat. Since then? How could he have been so naive as to not see it? Or perhaps, he didn't want to see it; knowing the path that would come ahead. But this night, this feeling of begin connected to Eli, would be worth all the heartbreak that was to come. His Eli. His beloved.
They held hands, walking through the stalls and checking out all the games and items. No passerby spared them more than a glance, too engrossed in their own festivities to notice. Alex noticed the night getting later; most of the younger guests had gone home, leaving the adults to drink and party. They passed by a pop up tavern where beer and other alcohol flowed like rivers.
It was late, but he didn't want the night to end yet. So he didn't let go of Eli's hand. The few pints of booze he had sampled making his cheeks flush with warmth and giddiness. He was happy and feeling a bit brave. "May I kiss you?" He asked
