The follow up manga "Kentaro Hiyama's Pregnancy: Childcare Edition" just ended.
I had a thought, wouldn't it be awesome if this series was adapted into an anime series and/or live-action series! The magazine Be•Love has already produced some anime and live-action series from some of it's manga titles, here's to this getting it's own adaptations!

If so, they would need to add a lot more story detail. One of the things about KHFP is the fact that at times it feels unfocused. Sakai Eri was clearly more interested in the social commentary, but at that cost, it doesn't delve into the personal character dilemmas. For example: we don't know what went through Kentaro's head prior to meeting Aki and becoming pregnant. We do see the event of the two meeting from Aki's perspective, but aside from Kentaro mentioning his childhood and him discovering his blunder, we don't know much of his personal opinion. He has brief fleeting doubt, but immediately accepts the prospect of being a father. The side characters in the first manga also seem inconsequential and could use some more personal detail. The follow-up manga forgets about them and moves on to new characters who take up the majority of the story with Kentaro, Aki and Kotaro feeling more like side characters. I would still like to see them do something with it however, and seeing as how Eri, who usually writes Josei manga, wants men to read it, indicates that there could be something in the future.
Here is some interesting information about the manga. So according to Sakai Eri, which I google translated through Twitter, so I'm not sure how accurate this is, her original intent was that Kentaro Hiyama gets pregnant through a "sex crime", but she changed it because she wanted the series to be a comedy. The follow up manga was originally going to be about a politician who winds up pregnant, but she dropped this story because she didn't want to make it an omnibus, supposedly.https://twitter.com/erisakai/status/1305086192199716866

Also, she is a huge fan of Powerpuff Girls and binge watches The Simpsons on Disney+. I think that's cute.

How are you coming along with translating the rest of the chapters?

Almost halfway through chapter 4, at the moment

I hate to bother you again, but how is the translation coming along? If you have other things going on, don't worry about rushing it.

Ah, so they were "friends with benefits". I thought it was a one night stand. Lousy Google translate.

Sakai Eri is going to try and get Kentaro Hiyama's Pregnancy: Childcare Edition printed as one large volume next year as opposed to two like what it is right now.

I hope she manages it because I really want it in paperback and can't find it anywhere

Additionally, it will come out in 2022 and they have already casted Kentaro Hiyama and Aki Seto

Kentaro will be played by Takumi Saitoh and Aki will be played by Juri Ueno

It will not be a total faithful adaptation, but it will follow the same themes.
LOL, you beat me to it! I knew that this was going get a full anime and/or live-action series! ^_^

I’m so excited now! I hope it gets dubbed!
Also, Childcare Edition will be released on paperback on June 11th! And the original will be reprinted soon!
Here's an english article from Crunchyroll:

Eri Sakai added that she will be having limited involvement, but she supports the adaptation nonetheless. It also sounds like that this version will have more focus on Kentaro and Aki's relationship. One of the criticisms I had with the manga is that I don't think it does a good job exploring their relationship all too well, so I'm glad that this will dive deeper into that.
So Netflix has already created a page for the series and they have retitled to “He’s Expecting”.

I have created a new thread for the live-action series to keep these two works separate, you can still post in this thread about the live-action series, but the main thread will be the new thread.

So, I contacted YesAsia (the online store I bought the first volume from) and asked them about possibly restocking the manga, they informed me that it “will be replenished by [YesAsia’s] suppliers at their own discretion.” So, I have no idea if and when that might happen, if ever.

However I also asked them about the sequel series and they told me that they would inquire about it to their suppliers on my behalf, and they recently e-mailed me back that they will be offering the sequel manga!

So I inquired about the original volume and they told me that they would have to ask their supplier on my behalf for restocking, and now they have more in stock, so get them while they last!

Ordered my copy!
