"The doctor did say as I was about to be put under that it would be at least 5 weeks and they are to transfer me to a family room here in the ICU tonight and I hear that it's got a seperate bedroom so you'll be able to stay in there whilst I recover and it's got everything that's needed." Darol smiled. "And these patches that are on me give me all the meds I need and if they need to be topped up then it can be done via a computer."

4 weeks pass, and Cliff and Darol are a week away from being able to return home and leave the hospital. Cliff is almost starting his 2 nd trimester, and his belly has gotten bigger and his symptoms are much more apparent.

Darol has been told that he is well enough to leave for home early, and does not need to take anti-rejection meds. The transplant had been minimally invasive and used new techniques which meant that there was no need to have an open chest for any of it. It was then that Darol received some news, and it was a surprise.

"Can't believe how close to death I came." Darol looked at Cliff.

Cliff looked at Darol, confused "What do you mean?"

"If my transplant had gone on even an hour later, I'd have died, because they opened up my diseased heart and found that I was in end-stage heart failure and they also found out that it was cardiomyopathy and it had no cause whatsoever." Darol then smiled. "And they have also given me a clean bill of health so I will be able to see our babies grow up."

Cliff sighed of relief "Well, we were right on time then!"

A half hour later, Cliff and Darol returneed home.

Darol could not believe that it had been 4 weeks since he was last at home.

Cliff immediatley layed in bed after getting settled in, it was hard for him to move around now that his belly has become so swollen.

Darol got down beside Cliff and put his hand on his stomach, with the knowledge that his babies were in there and that he would get to see them grow up.

Cliff smiled and blushed to Darol's touch.

Darol smiled and put Cliff's other hand on his chest, as if to let him know that both of them had the gift of life. Then Darol had another surprise in store, and it was in the form of a small box containing a ring.

Cliff couldnt help but giggle, he was ticklish, especially in his abdominal area and breasts.

Darol then got the box out and opened it, to reveal a gold ring.

"Will you?" Darol smiled.

Cliff screamed, put the ring on his own finger and hugged Darol, all in about 2 seconds. "YES YES YES!"

"I was planning on asking you on your birthday but since you have been a great help to me these past few weeks, I decided to bring it forward."

What Darol didn't mention was that he'd already planned everything.

Cliff kisses Darol on the lips.

Darol starts to cry tears of happiness.

Cliff hugs Darol "Stop it, I hate seeing you cry"

"I'm crying because all my dreams have come true." Darol (emotionally) smiled.

"Awwww" Cliff kisses Darol again.
