Humanity.....

A name for a race that knows war, conflict, hate, suffering, sadness. But also a word for compassion and benevolence. Humanity understands themselves, but they could never understand benevolence towards a being of pure chaos. In 2578, Humanity thought that alien life came from the stars. They were wrong. They came from the Earth, a portal located deep under the Earth's crust that allowed something to arise.

At first, they believed it was a new illness, a new strain of the flu. It started off like one, but it got worse. People started to hear things, see things they couldn't understand; then they felt pain. They coughed up blood as they started to lose their minds. This wasn't a pandemic, it was an invasion. It was then when they arrived, The Sovereign, a parasitic organism that consumes every living organism in sight. Hundreds of millions died on the day known as 'The Arrival'.

30 years had passed since The Arrival, and now, only the military and the human survivors remain. Armed with all the weapons and vehicles they could muster, Humanity as always went to war. Not for the innocent, not for hope. But for survival.

Name: Piras
Age: 21
Description: Piras is average height and formerly with an athletic build, but he's gotten a bit soft due to baby weight. He has black hair that he keeps in a braid and has a Mallen Streak at the front of his brow on the left side of where his hair parts due to a case of poliosis. He has amber brown eyes and wears glasses for reading. Piras has an affinity for puzzles, word searches, and riddle books. While he had ambitions of becoming a soldier, he didn't pass basic training, but he has no regrets about becoming a breeder instead.
Role: Breeder
Number of babies: Quintuplets
Current pregnancy timeline: 24 weeks

Nearly a decade ago, Piras was born in a bunker during the heat of The Arrival. His two older brothers already succumbed to the bloody madness by the time he was born, his parents having to bury two small graves. His father fell when Piras was only eight years old. The Sovereign and its disease seeped up from that wretched hole in the ground, so Humanity started building towers that reached high into the clouds, hoping the damn spores wouldn't reach them up there. Soldiers made periodic trips down to the surface, making efforts to eradicate the Sovereign and the bloody madness. Breeders lived in special facilities close to the soldiers. Their sole purpose was to rebuild Humanity's numbers as quickly as possible.

After failing to become a soldier, Piras signed up as a breeder. The next day, he was in surgery being fitted for a womb. The day after that, fertility therapy began. Therapy was intense with injections seven times a day in the small of his back and lower belly. The scar from surgery healed completely, like it was never even there. Breeders were paired with soldiers when the time came. The program was designed to ensure strong, healthy future humans. Piras didn't even know his soldier before their official pairing. It only took one time in bed for Piras to be impregnated, and with quints, no less. He continued spending time with his soldier, getting to know the man and developing actual feelings for him. It was difficult when his soldier's unit was deployed down to the surface.

Now, halfway through his pregnancy and heavily swollen, Piras waited eagerly in the return bay. His soldier's unit was finally coming back after weeks of battle against the Sovereign. Piras leaned forward as much as his belly would allow before falling over, and watched the door for when it would open and the men filed back inside.

"Will you walk into my parlor?" said the Spider to the Fly.

Name: Ryne
Age: 18
Description: pale Caucasian skin, ice blue eyes, short build, wide hips, lightly blonde hair, boyish look
Role: Breeder
Number of Babies: 6
Weeks pregnant: 20 weeks

Ryne was born during the bloodiest battles in all of human history. The Fall of New York was considered a terrible day for mankind as the largest Sovereign force invaded New York City, a city turned fortress. It was that day the largest and most powerful Sovereign destroyed the city, breathing a hellish flame that melted the thick metal walls and allowed millions of Sovereign to enter the city. 55 million people died in that battle, including Ryne's father, a soldier who died for his cause. Ryne's mother got him to safety but succumbed to the wounds she received to get baby Ryne out of the city.

Ryne grew up to fear the Sovereign, as they killed without thought or remorse. They were nothing but savage monsters. Ryne grew up and learned to teach the younger children's education before he entered the breeding program. He now waits for his soldier to return home. He stood next to Piras, rubbing his bump. "I hope they're okay. I heard they went to Halgar's Ridge. That's not too far from here."

"I'm sure they're fine. They're some of the best soldiers we have." Piras had to tell himself this every single day. He had to believe that his soldier would come back to him alive and in one piece.

Piras looked at Ryne, smiling at the eager expression on the boy's face, and then his eyes drifted down to his belly. Even though Piras was further along in his pregnancy, Ryna was having one more baby than him and was shorter, so they were about the same size. ...Although, Ryne might be a little bigger. Quintuplets and sextuplets were good results, better than those who only conceived twins, but there were other breeders who managed better results. They all knew about Oliver, another young man who found himself pregnant with eleven babes, forced into bed rest at the lab. It wasn't an actual competition by any means, but there was an unspoken rivalry between the breeders. After all, the bigger the brood, the greater contribution a breeder made to Humanity.

"Will you walk into my parlor?" said the Spider to the Fly.

Name: Carter
Age: 33
Description: He has a naturally tan complexion with reddish brown hair best described as auburn that is kept short due to military dress code. He often keeps a thick layer of scruff across his chin and jawline. He has dark chocolate brown eyes and thick, dark eyebrows. He is tall at 6'2" with a well-muscled body (a timely reference would be Chris Evans as Capt. America).
Role: Soldier
Rank: Master Sergeant

Carter's mother fled her Irish neighborhood in Boston to Brazil when The Arrival first began. She met a handsome fisherman there and they had Carter shortly after. Both his parents died in a fishing boat accident unrelated to The Arrival or the Sovereign. He grew up in an orphanage until Rio de Janeiro built its own tower and the population migrated up into the clouds. When he was 16, he enlisted to be a soldier and moved up through the ranks until achieving his current position as Master Sergeant.

Carter transferred from tower to tower over the years, deploying to where soldiers were needed most. Each time, he put his seed in a breeder for the good of the cause, but never got particularly attached. The San Diego tower is where he met Ryne and was instantly enamored. For the first time, it didn't just feel like doing his part for the program. Carter cared about Ryne and wanted him to be well. After decontamination, the door opened and his unit was finally allowed inside. His dark eyes immediately caught sight of his pale breeder, so he rushed over to him. "Ryne," he said, voice coming out deep and smooth, "I missed you. Look at you; you're so big." His large hand cupped the side of the boy's belly. Ryne just started showing when Carter left for the surface, so this was quite a surprise.

Ryne blushed at Carter as he leaned closer. "I'm so happy you're okay." He said happily as he wrapped his arms around Carter's neck.

Carter smirked. "You think I'm gonna let some Sovereign bastard get the better of me? C'mon, doll, you know me better than that." He chuckled when the much smaller boy had to push up onto his toes. It couldn't be easy with a belly like that, so Carter leaned down even further and kissed his breeder. "Did things stay quiet while we were away? Come on, let me unload my gear." The soldier was still heavily clad in large, thick armor and strapped to the nines with weaponry. Carter wrapped an arm around Ryne's waist and led him along towards the artillery locker.

Piras smiled at the sweet reunion between Ryne and Carter. Admittedly, they looked particularly cute together, one being so small and fair while the other so big and coarse. Ryne was young still, so it was good he had someone like Carter looking out for him. As the couple walked away, Piras turned his attention back on the soldiers still filing back into the return bay. Not all breeders and soldiers had a bonded relationship, so the bay wasn't overly full of people. He watched a few other couples reunite, waiting eagerly for when his soldier would walk through that door.

"Will you walk into my parlor?" said the Spider to the Fly.

"I'm just glad you're okay. What happened today? Was everything alright?" Ryne asked as he wrapped his arms around Carter.

"Today was the easy part, doll. All we did today was climb the tower." It was sort of cute how Ryne knew nothing about being a soldier. It was good he was so naive and innocent still. "When we left, we marched to Halgar's Ridge without much trouble. One night we camped, and I could see Joshua Tree through the scope. I wanted to go there and forget about all of this, you know? When we reached battle base, the Sovereign didn't waste any time. It was endless fighting for weeks."

Carter started removing all his weaponry-- huge guns from off his back and leg, smaller guns on his arms and hips, and blades anywhere else there was room-- and placed all of them back in their proper racks. The armor was a chore to remove, having to release valves and bolts in just the right order. "We left with about 500 men, but we came back with 431; not a huge loss, but a loss all the same."

Name: Han-jae

Age: 24
Description: Tall and lean and lithe; he has solid black hair cropped short, high cheekbones, and alert dark eyes. He smiles broadly and often, is clean-shaven, and has more than a few thin scars crisscrossing his body and face; some are surgical, others are shrapnel.
Role: (either soldier or breeder) Soldier
Rank: (for soldiers only) Specialist (ordnance division)

Han-jae is proud of his skills at blowing things up, and has never told his story the same way twice. He was transferred in to the San Diego tower from the Shanghai tower (which is where he enlisted at age 17), and got there from what was left of the Seoul tower after it suffered a few structural failures that necessitated a lot of emergency rebuilding and some partial evacuation. He's done fairly well as a soldier, and seems to be quite satisfied with his work, although when he gets bored at base, he tends to learn interesting things ("Interesting things. For instance, I'm not allowed to mount a bayonet on a crew-served weapon, I'm not authorized to prescribe any form of medication, I am not allowed to tell an officer I am smarter than he is even if I'm right....") He has a living sister, somewhere, and speaks surprisingly good English.

Han-jae was still at work, although they'd let him out of his suit; the new weaponry and armored suits being transferred into the artillery and equipment lockers needed to be looked over for damage. The lean ordnance specialist was one of the people on duty checking sidearms, removing ammunition, and registering them back in for cleaning and maintenance. Mind-numbing, certainly, but it needed to be done, and if you averaged one day of this out against one day of disintegrating Sovereign running screaming at you with the intention of carving out most of your tender squishy internal organs, it sort of balanced out somehow. The military was an odd place, although there certainly hadn't been many choices for someone like him. He found the presence of the little breeder kind of cute; the boy looked like Carter's pet.

"Hey, Han!" barked Carter jovially when he saw the Korean inspecting the discarded armor. He was fond of Han-jae's ever changing stories, especially when they were drinking together in their barracks. "You missed one hell of a fight! When are you gonna stop scrubbing groin guards with a toothbrush and pick up a blaster cannon instead? Bet you'd like it out on the battlefield." He removed the shoulder armor up over his head, which fit a lot like football shoulder pads, and placed then on a metal table with a loud clunking noise. That was 60 pounds of steel right there.

Carter caught Han-jae stealing glances at Ryne, so he caught the little breeder around the waist and pulled the boy in close. "Looks great, doesn't he? I got to find out the number just before he shipped out. Six rugrats. Look at him, carrying them around like a little trooper." He arched an eyebrow at the Specialist. "So when're you gonna get around to enlisting in the reproduction program? You could have yourself a sweet little breeder too."

"The answer to both of your questions is that the paperwork is going through, Sergeant," Han-jae shrugged and smiled, lifting a helmet for inspection and turning it over in his hands. "Peace sign on one side....'Born to Kill' on the other....Someone is confused. But hopefully I'll be out there helping you send Sovereign to the Hell of the Horny Dragon right along with everybody else." He was looking forward to doing something that involved slightly more fire and explosions.

"Six? Well, congratulations to you both," Ryne also merited a smile. "You do look great. Enjoy spending time with the big guy there."

Ryne blushed as he nodded. "Thank you Han. And I'll try. If he doesn't go on another mission any time soon." He playfully teased as he poked Carter in the side.

"Hey, ya gotta do some killing to achieve peace. Not like the Sovereign are going to leave just because we politely ask them to." He finished unloading the rest of his armor onto the table. He knew Han-jae would have to inspect it for structural damage anyway. Free from the armor, Carter didn't look like such a hulking behemoth. He was still strongly-built with good muscles, but now he looked less like a robot with a human head on it. "After this one goes to sleep, how about you and I go have a round of beers in the galley later tonight? I got a great story about killing three Sovereign with one cannon blast."

Carter put his attention back on Ryne and grinned. "C'mon, doll, you know that sorta thing isn't up t'me. I'd stay for longer if I could, but when duty calls, I have to go." He placed his large hand atop the boy's belly. "The good news is that garrison lasts about four weeks before we start another tour, so you have me for that long at least."

"In that case, bring me along tonight. I'm free tonight, and I want something exciting to do other then score 1st grader tests over and over again." Ryne suggested as he pressed his body against Carter's body, loving how handsome he is. "I won't drink. I promise." He said cutely with a pout.

Carter frowned just slightly. "I dunno, Ryne. I won't actually hit the galley until late. I was going to wait until after you went to bed. You need to get plenty of sleep," he said, now moving his hand back and forth slowly over that swollen orb. Ryne was only coming up on the halfway mark of his pregnancy, but he was already so big. Carrying such a large brood probably wasn't easy on his smaller body. He leaned over, murmuring into the boy's ear. "You know how important it is for you to stay healthy. Not just for yourself, but for the sake of the program. You... still have a duty."

"Ha, I'm always up for war stories." Han-jae carefully racked up Carter's armor; the full inspection would come later. "I can't match that, but I can tell you what I learned this week..." He tilted his head a little. "Until then, back to the grind."

"I know my duty. But for tonight, I want to spend the night with you." Ryne said as he nuzzled into Carter's chest like a spoiled kitten.
