Simon Kaga lowered the walkie-talkie he had been trying to get an answer from; it was bad enough being a marine biologist stranded in the middle of a mysterious jungle inside the Bermuda Triangle (although he reflected that if he got out alive, the National Enquirer would at least pay for some kind of exclusive), but he'd made the mistake of offering to go look for other survivors and now had even less of an idea of his location, even relative to the wreckage of the plane. This place seemed to do funny things to his internal compass as well as standard orientation equipment. Maybe magnetic fields of some kind were to blame?
