Much against his better judgement, Simon continued to pick his way down what looked like the safest path outside the cave, as carefully as possible; the rocks were wet and he had to grab onto plants and dirt whenever possible to avoid going clean off the side of the crag. He was also wet, and cold, and unsure where he had gotten those bruises on his legs, but it was an improvement over when he'd started to escape, when he'd hardly been able to see.
The morning light might make things inconvenient, as the harpies, including Raven, were probably waking up, but at least he had tried before a growing body would have made things infinitely harder.
