Being a breeder is a responsibility I take very seriously."
He leaned back, crossing one leg over the other. "I couldn't become a soldier, so I see this as the next best contribution I could make to the war effort. Your level of involvement is completely up to you. I will respect whatever decision you make. Not all the soldiers here have a strong paternal instinct, so they do the deed-- so to speak-- and never come back until it's time to do it again. I've seen other soldiers take an interest in the process. I think they tend to have curious minds like you and me. They take it as a learning experience." Piras chuckled. "After all, it wasn't always the case that men could bear children."
