Austen simply smiled as he shook their hands. It seemed that Nick's friend was a bit embarrassed at what was going on downstairs. It happened a lot around him, though when he was around one of the many people who was possibly destined for him, some of its effects did not work, which allowed him and them to be themselves among each other. He led Nick away to the dance floor.
