Lost Expedition (NSFW, Still Open for now)

Keith had awoken the following morning with a few minor aches, mainly to the head. He groaned partially as he rose out the covers. He smelled breakfast being prepared once again, but he honestly felt like skipping it and beginning a pursuit after these shadow creatures. He left the room, seeing Air and Len preparing things as they have done before.

"Morning." He would have said good, but he honestly was not in the exact best of moods given the recent situations.

Len nods "once we have breakfast we are moving out, you have a chance to stay here in the safe town or go with us. I'm going to offer it to all of your comrads, during breakfast."

"There's no way I'm staying around in the town this time" he chuckled partially, though he was very serious. "I think I may need to get marked again though. The bite's no longer visible." It barely even showed a mark on his skin. "How soon do we head out?"
Reply

Len nods "after lunch, I'll mark you then as well." He looks as the other humans start to come out.

"Thank you." Simon was glad that he wasn't too heavy for the thermal, and glanced towards the glowing speck Nillik had pointed out, trying to get his priorities in order; finding somewhere safe, and the basics, was first on the list, so that he could stay healthy while he looked for his former companions.

Nillik lands after a while within seeing distance of the light "the people inside won't let me land inside the town. Sparks can go with you to make sure your ok while I stay in the air above. If any thing goes wrong tap Sparks tail." The fire bird lands on Simons head and starts to preen its feathers like it doesn't notice anything.

"Can I ask why they won't let you land?" Simon wondered if the town had had problems with flying creatures before, since the harpies were so close. He patted the firebird's head thoughtfully. "Hey, don't build a nest up there."
Reply

Nillik blinks "I look like a drow so they think I'm some strange dark elf hybrid out to capture or kill them." The firebird chirps and emits warmth while it's head is being petted.

"Oh, I see..." Simon knew from fantasy novels that drow (possibly spider-worshipping backstabbers like the novels, possibly not, who knew how different they were here) and other elves were on bad terms, but that just raised the question of how the locals would react to a man in a blanket, with a firebird sitting on his head. "Well, again, thanks, I'd probably still be pretty lost if you weren't around."

He headed up the road towards the town, leaving Sparks where he was.

Keith simply nodded.

"Do you all need help or you prefer doing the cooking?" He would leave them be if they did and instead coverse with the others he travelled with as well as those that weren't reluctant to talk to him. The way he figured it, if they all pitched in somewhere, they would be pulling their own weight and not seen as moochers or slackers. He would begin looking for some kind of jobs for them and himself to do while going alongside Len. Then there was the actual concern of the captured humans, especially Simon, he had to handle. He began to examine a few fruit. He could at least mix a nice juice blend together if he acquired a few more.

Nillik nods "good luck." He takes flight as the town opens it's doors for Simon. A few people come out to help him in.

Len nods "you can certainly help if you would like." Air "I'm still trying to figure out how to make waffles. I only did a basic mind read to find preferred food."

Simon thanked the people as he was led inside the gate, trying to explain his current state and situation; he didn't want to beg, but he had to get into a more stable situation soon, and not only for himself....he still didn't know exactly how many harpy eggs were developing inside him, and after they were laid and hatched, he'd have to take care of....chicks? Something.

They nod and get him to a room. They offer him clothes and a place to rest. Things seem fine for now. Though the firebird seems uneasy.

"What's the matter, Sparks?" Simon petted the firebird gently. He was at least relieved to be wearing clothes again; his belly was just beginning to show, so luckily everything still fit. This town seemed normal enough, and he was thinking that finally things could be looking up. "Do you miss your person?"

Sparks chirps and flutters over to the door. He leans his head against the door then flutters back to simon. He repeats this a few times.
Reply

Simon didn't say anything, but simply leaned down and listened at the door as Sparks had- the bird seemed very intelligent and might be overhearing something.
Reply

The men outside his room are talking about removing the young inside him even if it kills the carrier. The firebird watches simon for his reaction.

From the look on Simon's face, he wasn't liking the idea much; these people seemed like they would be none too concerned for his health during their little foray into exploratory surgery. Being cut clean open in a world like this, benefit of magic or no, would probably have a lot of nasty complications...and he wasn't sure whether anyone would listen to being told about proper surgical hygiene.

He didn't like the idea of giving birth to harpy eggs either, but at least it seemed slightly more survivable. Then again, not having slept in days wasn't exactly conducive to good decision-making.

"...so much for rest." It seemed prudent to start looking around for anything he could take before using Sparks to signal.

The room has a basic bed, dresser, and window. The fire bird flutters about the room trying to help find things as well. It does find an old book under the dresser.

Simon grabbed the book. "Thanks." He got the window open and looked out; it seemed bizarre, and exhausting, to be having to run yet again, and part of him wondered whether he shouldn't just stay and risk it and have the eggs removed simply to stop having to worry about travel and food and how the hell these things would ever come out of him. Most of the other parts, though, feared blood and pain and suspected there would be a lot of both. "...a whole dimension of people and I keep running into the ones that want to do things to me, like I'm some sort of-"

He tapped Sparks' tail. "...I think it's time to go."
