“Alright Filon, if you’re sure, goodbye”, he called out, just as his phone rang. Jamie gasped, “alright, I’m coming”, he told his brother, rushing out of the café. Trust Eric to leave town right as his husband went into labour. Jamie drove as fast as legally possible to get to his brothers home and knocked on the door, “I’m here!”

Leon kissed his brother gracefully on the cheek and handed him his bag. His hand was on his back. “My water hasn’t burst yet. I often have cramps” sighed deeply breathing “I’m sorry, so sudden, but I didn’t plan on that”, he said sadly and grabbed Jamie’s hand

Jamie took the bag and hugged his brother tight, “I know you can’t help it”, he said, “ don’t be so sad, I’m sure Eric will make it back in time”, he tried convincing. “Come on then, let’s get going before you have the baby right here”, he teased. Leon was his younger brother and his only sibling which was why he was so protective of him. Jamie loved his brother deeply and would be utterly miserable if anything were to happen to him.

Leon looked at his older brother tenderly. In the car he tried to stay calm and took a deep breath, but eventually his water broke. “Sorry, Jamie! I didn’t want to”, he said when he saw how wet the seat and the floor were. Fortunately, the hospital was just around the corner.

“It’s fine, it happens”, Jamie said, calmly, he drove into the hospital car park and got out to help Leon. “Here we go”, he said as he pulled him out of the car, grabbing his bags and walking into the hospital, “why don’t you sign in and I’ll message Eric?”, Jamie asked.

Leon agreed. At the hospital, he was taken to the room by a nurse in a wheelchair as he filled out a form on his knee. Jamie wasn’t aware that Filon was in that hospital, which had just had a detailed examination of the uterus.

Jamie spammed Eric’s phone with messages and missed calls but he had yet to see them, after a while of trying he made his way up to Leon’s room, “sorry but he didn’t answer the phone”, he sadly told his brother, and made his way to sit next to him, “I can stay with you, if you want?”

Leon grabbed his hand and smiled palely “I know you’re caring, but you’ve got your life, brother... You help me so much”, he said, kissing him on the cheek”.The baby wants to finally meet me... It’s a beautiful moment, you know?”

“I know but it’s the weekend, I have time off to spend,” Jamie said, “I want to be here for you especially if no one else can be”. He leant closer to his brother and hugged him again, “how are you feeling?” He asked.

“I think it’s good... I don’t know”, he said, without knowing exactly. He held his hand. “When Eric comes, you can drive... No matter how long it takes, you have to rest.”

Jamie chuckled at his stubbornness, “well, we don’t know how long it’ll take for him to get here, do we?” Jamie looked down and their joined hands and sighed, “it’s been a while since your last contraction”, he stated.

Leon sighed and looked at his big belly in the hospital shirt. His butt barely covered him! “And as for the family moments... Shall I give you a date? Jamie, you must have your soul mate”, he said anxiously.

“It’ll be fine, I’ll find them one day”, Jamie said wistfully, “now stop worrying about me when you’re the one in labour”, he chuckled. Suddenly he got a notification from his phone, it was Eric, he was on his way back from the next town over and would be about 30 minutes. “Here, look at this”, Jamie said passing the phone over to Leon.

Leon was relieved when he learned his husband was coming soon. He kissed his brother’s cheek and gave him the phone back. “Thank you, brother... Please get me a cup of water, there’s nothing going on at the moment”, he said with a smile.

“Alright, if you’re sure”, he said, before standing up and leaving the room. He wondered through the hallways for a while before finding a sign that said ‘Cafeteria’, obviously he chose to follow it and ended up in a food hall kind of place. He walked over and asked for two waters for him and his brother.

Filon was just out of the exam, waiting for his IV to go down. Since he had nothing interesting to do, he ran through the hospital corridors. When he was at the corner where the canteen was, he met someone. He looked up and saw his teacher. He smiled slightly. “We’ll meet again...”

“Oh!”, Jamie jumped and clutched at his chest, “you scared me”, he chuckled. “I hope you’re doing alright, how are you feeling?”, he asked Filon, concerned for his student. He picked up the water bottles and paid before giving the student his full attention again.

“IV!” a bag showed the teacher: “I have to wait until it’s over. And then, when I make it, the bus. My father is operating and it will take a long time. I should walk or go home”, he said to his teacher: “And you? Is the Mr sick?” he asked with concern.

“Oh no, I’m sadly still single but my brother went into labour whilst his husband was out of town”, the professor said, rolling his eyes whilst talking about Eric, he didn’t mind the guy but he was pretty annoying. “He should be here soon though, but I could give you a lift if you like?”, Jamie suggested, “you must be tired”.

"I don’t want to cause you any trouble... I live pretty much on the outskirts of town”, he explained, smiling at him” .Please wish your brother good luck. Specialists work here, he and the child are in good hands.”
