Cameron timidly took his hand. The nurses took him to a spare room, where they began preparing a nightgown for him.
"Please change your fiancé into a shirt.... We are preparing the IV and documents to be filled out.... We have already notified the doctor."

Reece nodded, “of course”. He grabbed the clothing and made his way back to Cameron, “I don’t have to do it if you don’t want me to”.

Cameron mused.
"Maybe let's do it... Otherwise they'll think you're not the baby's father after all," he replied, hearing that exchange of words. He then guessed his boss's answer.

Reece nodded, “alright”. He pulled off Cameron’s top, whilst making sure not to stare at him, then replaced it with the hospital one. “There we go”.

Cameron thanked him quietly, and then the nurses took care of him. They hooked up his IV. Then they helped him lie down comfortably and connected various monitors around his tummy.
"Please stay with your partner and fill out this documentation," she handed him a bundle of papers

Reece watched as loads of things hooked up to Cameron and then took the papers. He moved closer to the bad and leant on the edge, showing Cameron the papers, “help me out here”.

Cameron took a pen from him and began to complete the more personal threads on the form.
"I'm sorry you have to pretend to be the child's father.... You can always leave me here later. I'm not threatened by anything here."

Reece let out a breath, “I don’t mind”, he started, “but I’m not leaving you here alone, no one deserves that”.

Cameron felt his heart speed up for the second time that evening. He glanced at Reece, but quickly looked away.
"Thank you..." he whispered and stroked his stomach lightly

Reece smiled at Cameron, “it’s no problem”, he reminded him. When Cameron had another contraction, he couldn’t help but put his hand on his belly, “sorry, I just wondered what it felt like”, he murmured, pulling away.

Cameron squirmed slightly then, but then focused his attention on Reece. He smiled slightly.
"Ah, you know... It's also something new for me," he replied, and then stroked his tummy

“What do you mean?”, Reeve asked, did Cameron really mean that no one had really touched his bump? “Because you didn’t want them to?”, he asked.

Cameron scratched his cheek slightly.
"You know... I have no colleagues at work, and after work I usually took care of the house. I... Ashton hasn't touched a finger to me since the time I found out about the pregnancy. Well, except for a few incidents," he whispered

He frowned, “I’m so sorry to hear that”, Reece murmured back to Cameron, “we’ll need to fix that, huh?” He leant forward and have Cameron a half hug, due to their awkward position.

Cameron thanked him quietly, then lightly put his hands on his back.
"It's late... Maybe go home," he tried to persuade him.

He shook his head, “there’s no way I’m leaving you here alone”, he claimed and held onto his hand, “being lonely is the worst”

Cameron gently held his hand. It had been a long time since anyone had held his hand.
"I'm used to loneliness..." he replied quietly "Although I have sometimes envied others having someone next to them.... It's silly, I know."

“It’s honestly not stupid, sometimes we need someone to hold our hand”, Reece murmured, thinking about all the times he had been alone, just wishing someone was there to hold him. “It’ll be alright”.

Cameron smiled weakly. While they were sitting like that, a doctor came by.
"Hello..." she said and tried to cool the atmosphere "I'm Rhona and I'll be your doctor" she added and sat down on a chair "I got the documents already.... So why don't we start with an ultrasound.... You're the daddy, right?" she asked Reece

Reece almost hesitated but answered, “I am”, firmly. He gave Cameron’s had a quick squeeze before paying attention to what the doctor had to say.
