It might have sounded heartless; Kyson just needed to know someone completely well before he could ever say he fell in love with them. He could affectionately take care of them, but he could not instantly profess love for them. That’s why, even though he was washing off Jace’s back, he could still keep things professional and objective.
Such as when he asked about exploring. “Your feelings. How are you feeling about all of this right now?
