"Ok. I think you need to pack a little for the stay? Any calls to make? Your company?" Martin asked, packing his own stuff.

Alex nodded, slowly walking to his bedroom and packing an overnight bag, calling his coworker to get her to cover for him, and tell Chris what happened.

Martin got a hand at the small of Alex's back and accompanied him out the door. Some neighbors looked curiously at them and gave a friendly smile, obviously misunderstanding. An old lady even approached and said "congratulations! I havent seen you around here before. Do take good care of Alex, you two look so cute together!"

"Thank you, Mrs. Stone," Alex blushed softly, following Martin to his car. "Sorry about that. People have been wondering who the father is, you've been the only one who showed up and took care of me."

"No it's alright. I wish I have a partner like you." Martin smiled. He guided him into the car, supporting his back when he climbed in.

Alex's blush deepened, settling in the car easily with Martin's help.

"I hope you dont have car sickness. Tell me if you feel nauseous again alright?" Martin squeezed Alex's hand and drove off the block. "By the way, call me Martin."

"I don't, but she's sort of wrecking my body," Alex chuckled weakly, one hand holding his stomach while the other hand white-knuckled the safety grip. Not because he felt sick, but because he was scared he would be again. Because he could lose his baby. "Martin. I'll try to remember that, not the best with names."

"Ha I dont usually go first name basis with patients so I hope you do try to remember." Martin joked. "Can I call you Alex then? Is that short for Alexander?" The doctor noticed how anxious he was, he wanted to distract him with some small talks.

"Yeah, you can call me that. Short for Alexander, yeah. My mom teaches Greek literature at a college where I grew up," Alex responded, attempting to relax.

[bhdire8]

"Greek literature! Interesting. What's your own major then?" Martin chose a longer but smoother path to the hospital, knowing it had less turns and bumps on the road.

"Majored in theater, ironically enough, minored in business management," Alex murmured, glancing around at the scenery as a cold sweat started to form over him.

"Well i somrtimes go to the theatre too. What plays did you do back then?" The hospital was just a few blocks away now and Martin sneaked a hand and squeezed on Alex's thigh.

"Some Disney recreations, an Elvis musical. Didn't get to do a lot, my job took over," Alex shrugged.

"I would have love to see your performance, I am sure it would be very good. You are a committed person and that would show in your works." He commented. "Now the hospital is right in view now. How are you feeling?"

"I'm a little better. Still nauseous, baby's moving around a lot," Alex answered, not realizng how tense he was until Martin squeezed his thigh.

"Ok that's good. We would check on her after we got you set up with a drip.  Try to relax a bit ok? Everything's gonna be fine." Martin turned into the parking lot and finally they arrived.

Alex nodded, still terrified. His baby never moved around this much, she had to have been hurt. In distress. Something. Thankfully, the hospital wait wasn't too long, Alex soon set up a room with a drip, a feeding tube, and an oxygen mask.

Martin had been with Alex the whole time and may or may not have jumped a little queue for him. He changed into his gown and instructed the nurses with the necessary setups. Seeing the nurse pushing the ultrasound machine set in, he assumed the seat beside the bed and said "Well now that you are settled, we are going to check on the little one. Would you please lift your shirt?"

Alex lifted his shirt, still left in his pajamas, an oversized superhero T-shirt with sweatpants. He watched the screen intently, waiting to see his daughter. "Is she okay?"
