The disruption in the lifts had caused the orderly to be very busy. The staff disappeared immediately after bringing the wheelchair, when Martin was going to ask him stay and help him lift rhe wheelchair up that flight of stairs. Martin huffed and pushed the chair to the stairs anyway.

"I can walk up a flight of stairs, honey, calm down. I'm not completely immobile yet," Alex soothed, gently squeezing Martin's hand.

"Well true. And some walking would be good for you for a natural birth. Just that it was quite unnecessary. I should have changed the appointment to another day."

He stopped the wheelchair at near the handrail of the stairs and helped Alex out of the chair. He helped supported his belly as he walked up, letting him lean some weight on him.

"I'll be fine," Alex chyckled, making it up the stairs perfrctky fine, although Martin did help a little.

Alex was handling this surprisingly well. Martin smiled "wow Alex babe, you are so strong. Heaving that belly up wasnt that easy and you didnt even broke a sweat! I think you could handle the birth well at this rate."

They entered into the room and settled on the bed, no longer needing that usual "any discomfort" question as Martin basically spent everyday with Alex now.

"I was fit before, I wanted to stay that way," Alex smiled, also knowing that people who were more fit had easier births. He wanted to meet Rosemary as soon as possible. He sat on the bed, letting Martin examine his belly and take measurements.

"Erm honey can you get your pants a little bit lower. Cant quite reach the base of your uterus here." Martin was holding the measuring tape on top of the uterus, measure the height of it. "May have to touch real close to.... but bare with me alright?"

Alex nodded, pulling his pants down slightly to help Martin. He was used to it by now, and couldn't wait to actually reach that point with Martin.

"Ok that's perfect love. And I am done here." Putting the tape away, Martin said to Alex somewhat uneasily. "Starting from this time, Alex, I need to do an internal exam. This is to ensure you were not dilated without you knowing and risk infection. Maybe we will do it after the ultrasound? Give you enough mental preparation for that." He cleared his throat as he finished, turning to take the gel, not knowing how Alex would react to this. They hadn't really done anything intimate so far, not that Martin didnt want to.

Alex nodded, blushing slightly at the thought of it. Of course he wanted to be intimate with Martin, but not while pregnant. He didn't want to risk Rosemary getting hurt, and knew that sex wouldn't be too beneficial so late in the pregnancy.

He squirted the gel on the mound of belly and started scanning. The baby had, as expected, grown quite a lot from the last checkup. "I am estimating Rosemary to be at 8 lbs now. For normal male pregnancies most babies will be 9lbs or more at time of birth, so she is still quite alright there. I can see she's turning downwards now, not quite there yet but on the right track. We could do more of that position taught in the yoga class to help her do that."

The picture and the heartbeat were done automatically. They have kept all the ultrasounds in an album and this wouldn't be missed from it.

Alex watched the screen, smiling at the sight of Rosemary. "Can't wait to meet you, princess," he cooed, watching her shift slightly on the screen. "Is everything else okay? Outside of her position and weight?"

"So far so good I would say. Shouldn't have anything to worry about now." Martin let Alex look at it a little longer and together they watch how Rosemary decided to give a little yawn.

As the ultrasound was finally ended, Martin said "erm... so now. I will help you take the pants down? I will set the stirriups too."

"Ok all comfortable? I have raised the bed a bit so you are in a sitting position and can see me. Now what I will do is insert a finger inside up to the cervix.
