"Well I am flexible here. What do you think Alex?" Martin considered. Though he felt a pang of jealousy thinking how another guy could touch Alex in those areas, he found that unprofessional and in fact it shouldn't matter.

"I'd prefer if you did it," Alex murmured with a small blush. The last time He'd done an internal exam, it'd been extremely pleasant.

"No problem, he's qualified," John shrugged, smiling at his colleague.

Martin's smile could be a little too big but he didn't care, he just grabbed Alex and kissed him passionately. It took several cough from Dr Hammond to separate them, both flushed from the kiss.

".. ok I think I should do it now. Alex babe, would you spread your legs a bit?"

Alex contently returned the kiss, sighing contently into it. Once they separated, John left the room, Alex parting his legs so Martin could see.

"I am entering now... deep breath love." Martin snapped on gloves and eased 2 fingers in. He went gentle and slow, stretching the hole a bit in the process preparing for the passage of Rosemary.

Alex pulled in a breath, tensing slightly as he felt Martin's fingers enter him, feeling a contraction begin as well.

Martin also felt the impending contraction and moved a bit faster, reaching deep in to find the cervix. "I think thats a 6, almost 7. It will be soon now but this is the hardest part. The transition phase is known for being the most painful of the whole labor procrss." Martin removed his fingers just in time before the next contraction hit.

Alex nodded at the information, rubbing his back with one hand as the other gripped the sheets on the bed. He was used to the contractions by now, but they had become much stronger since his water had broken.

Martin sat next to Alex and one hand on his belly and one hand on his back as he endured the wave of contraction. So far Alex was coping exceedingly well, calm enough to not waste energy screaming at this stage

Alex knew screaming wouldn't help him much, especially when there was more to come. The pair stayed like that for a long time, contractions becoming closer and more intense.

The last few cms proved to be most difficult. Contractions are down to 4 minutes apart, approaching 3 yet dilation had stuck at 8. "Alex you wanna try the birth ball? Bouncing on it could help a little."

Alex nodded weakly, sweat now making his hair stick to his forehead. He perched on the ball, rocking himself softly on it.

Martin got behind Alex, kneeling upright to rock with Alex, applying counter pressure whenever a contraction came. This position also helepd with getting the perineum to soften, reducing the risk of tearing. The light's dimmed and they lean into each other combating the waves of pain.

Alex closed his eyes and took deep breaths, breathing through contractions as he rocked with Martin. "Am I any closer?" he asked through soft pants.

"I would check you again after this round of rocking? Do you feel any changes yourself? Point of pressure or any urge to push?" Martin asked.

"Pressure's been there, but it's getting a little worse now," Alex answered, both hands going to rub his back.

"Ok that's a good sign. Meaning Rosemary must be descending even more. Now lets change position. How about you kneel on the floor and hover your upper body on the ball instead. Spread your legs a little wider so I csn check you.

Alex did as he was told, rocking his upper body on the ball as Martin checked his opening.

"Seems like the ball is indeed working. You have got through the 8cm plateau. 9 cm now, and the tip of Rosemaey's head is right there. Good job Alex!" Martin kissed his back and was relieved himself.

Alex let out a small sigh of relief, happy that it wouldn't be much longer until he got to meet his daughter.
