The nurse told him to sit on the bed. The doctor began to disinfect his hands before the examination. The woman rolled up the patient’s shirt and slightly marked the site of the spine for the puncture. The doctor said to James, “Hello... The boy, since when is he in labour?” asked James.

“Well his water broke a few hours ago but I’m not quite sure when he started getting the contractions” James told the doctor, “I don’t think Carson was even aware he was getting them” he chuckled.

The doctor smiled and looked at Carsen, who was serious: “Your first child?” asked him, thinking he was the father. The doctor put on gloves.

James froze, if he pointed out that it wasn’t his child he might be kicked out of the room. “Yeah” he nodded whilst chuckling nervously.

“Don’t be nervous...” said the doctor and patted his shoulder: “Are you wanting to see birth?” he asked as he sat down on the swivel chair and took a syringe of anaesthesia for Carsen from the nurse. He gently inserted the needle. Carsen gasped and clenched his fist “Well done...” praised him the doctor

“Of course” he said to the doctor, “could you teach me anyway to make Carson’s pain lesser?”

“I’ll try...” The doctor answered, then slowly pulled the needle out of his skin and put a band-aid on him: “We’ll do an ultrasound, and I’ll check your partner’s opening... Do you have any other suggestions?” he asked.

“Could you please show me how to push on his pressure points to ease the pain?” He asked the doctor.

The doctor nodded: “Spine, thigh, abdomen, buttocks...” He named the places that hurt the most. First, he started massaging Carsen’s back. The boy growled softly and felt his muscles

Whilst the doctor massaged Carson’s back, James crouched infront of him and started to massage his thighs. “I hope this is alright” he mumbled.

“Hmm.” Carsen purred with consent and blushed gently, feeling his heart beat faster. James was everyone’s dream, and now he was with him.

James was glad that Carson didn’t mind, he really wanted to help him with the pain. He knew that being in labour was one of the worst things to experience but it was also a blessing.

He moved his hands up further to massage Carson’s stomach, being careful of the belt on him.

Carsen moaned quietly as James massaged him. He felt real pain. Still, he tried to hold on. He had to take care of his baby in belly. He pressed the sheet slightly in his hand. “Thank you...” said softly to the businessman

“It’s alright, I’m just trying to help you” he murmured, smiling softly.

Carsen crunched for a while before his belly belt didn’t make a loud beep. “Calm down... Nothing’s happening”, doctor said, opening his belt as he looked his steakoscope into his stomach to check the baby’s heartbeat.

James took his hands off of Carson and watched as the doctor worked. He once again didn’t want to get in the way so he just stood there.

“The heart beats slower... But that’s no wonder. That’s normal...” He said, asking the nurse for a thicker belly strap: “I’m going to put on something else. It helps with the cramps, but you’ll still feel it. I recommend walking, it will help speed up the process a little”, he said, tightening the belt pretty tight

“Do you want to do some walking now?” James asked, once the doctor and nurse had left to check on other patients.

“But here or in the hallway?” he asked, sighing slightly as he felt the spasm, and pressed his hand tighter.

“Wherever you want” James replied shrugging. He held out his hand for Carson to take so he could help him off of the bed.
