Jordan leaned his head harder, hearing a familiar voice that had not spoken to him for so long. Tears of hope streamed down his face.
"Alex!" he shouted in an exasperated whisper

“Jordan! What’s going on?”, he replied, still whispering. He moved forwards to take him into his arms. He felt like home.

Jordan said nothing more. He just hugged him, holding his shoulders tightly. He was breathing hard, still feeling the adrenaline.

It took Alex a moment to realise that there was something being pushed into him. “You’re pregnant?“, he questioned. He moved his hands down to feel the bump.

Tears flew down Jordan's face. He was unable to speak too much out of emotion. He simply put his hands around his face.
"Save us..."

“Of course I will, baby”, Alex said. He let go of Jordan to pull his phone out of his pocket to call the police. “You’d better hide”, he murmured to Jordan, “just incase your brother wakes up”.

Jordan, however, could not walk much. He felt soreness everywhere.
"Alex?" he asked quietly, "I'm in a lot of pain..."

“Are you already in labour?”, he gulped. He held out his hand whilst speaking on the phone to the police and led Jordon to the spare downstairs bedroom. “Stay here baby, I’m going to make sure your brother doesn’t wake up”.

The police told him they would arrive soon and would have their sirens off as to not alert people they were coming.

Jordan stroked his tummy and then began balancing his hips as he sat on the edge of the bed.
"I don't know..." he replied quietly "I really don't know."

Alex kissed him in the forehead, “hopefully not”.

Just as he said that he heard a car pull up, “wait here”, he said and left.

Whilst outside Alex had to explain what had happened to the police about how Jordan had been replaced by his twin and locked away. The police immediately went upstairs to arrest the imposter.

Jordan lay on the bed, stroking his tummy with tenderness and care. He felt another sharp pain. Then he could feel something dripping from him. When he saw a small red puddle between his feet, he began to breathe more rapidly. He put a pillow to his crotch, trying to stop the bleeding.

Alex couldn’t watch as Felix was dragged away and arrested. He told the police that he would come back some other time to make his statement. He just wanted to return to his lover.

He raced back inside and burst open the door where he had left Jordan. “What’s going on?”, he asked, seeing the blood, “did your waters break?”

Jordan gasped quietly, then looked at him flooded with tears.
"Take me to the hospital.... Please..." he said breathing heavily "Something with our baby, it's blood...."

Alex’s heart began to race and he pulled at his hair. This isn’t meant to happen, he had just found his husband and now he’s bleeding.

He moved forward to lift Jordan up, “is this okay?” He asked.

Jordan nodded in disbelief.
"I don't know... I haven't had any examination..." he whispered, then grabbed onto his husband tighter "I don't want the baby to have anything..." he added only.

“I’m sure they’re healthy”, Alex said, putting Jordan in the car and making sure he was buckled. He got in his side and began the 10 minute journey.

For Jordan, the minutes went on and on. When he got to the emergency department everything happened quickly. Doctor, second doctor, nurse....
After an hour, a doctor came to Alex.
"The placenta has detached.... Everything is fine now. However, it will stay for a few days. Delivery is a matter of time," she explained

Alex scratched his head, “what does this mean?” He asked, having no idea what all these terms meant. “So can he go home yet or is he having the baby?”

"The hemorrhage was caused by the detachment of the placenta.... Now after our intervention it is fine," she began calmly explaining, "However, it is the end of the pregnancy and your partner is exhausted. I recommend staying here. The delivery may take place in a few days."

Alex nodded, “okay that makes sense. But what if Jordan doesn’t want to stay here? He has just been released from being held captive so I’m sure he would want to rest in his own bed”.
