"Please don't say anything..." he asked in a soft tone of voice after a while. He looked down at his feet in shame. He swallowed his saliva loudly. "I know what you mean.... I can imagine."

“Cameron, I can’t imagine what you’re going through”, he Reece sighed, “is there anything I can do?” To be honest, he just wanted to call the police and make sure he was safe but it wasn’t as easy as that. Cameron could still be inlove with his husband.

"Honestly... I don't even know what you can do" he said after a long moment "There are days when I don't care.... But when I think about the baby I don't want.... For him to grow up in such an atmosphere. He never even asked about our baby" he added and touched his tummy

Reece frowned, “you could always move into my spare bedroom, like a roommate?” He offered, “I just don’t want you going back into a household like that”. He sat down on the bed next to Cameron, “it’s honestly disgusting how he treats you”.

Cameron looked at him out of the corner of his eye. He was still biting his lip.
"His insulting words no longer impress me..." he whispered, then closed his eyes for a moment "But how he insults our baby.... It hurts me so much."

“Don’t put up with it, Cameron, I see stories like yours all over the news and they usually end up dead,” he said, “please please, do something about this”, he begged.

"It's not that easy..." he said quietly, and then tried not to cry "We half pay for the apartment, and for living I have to have from my paycheck..." he said more quietly "When I didn't want to terminate the pregnancy he told me to raise the child with my money"

“You can stop paying, use your money for you and your baby”, Reece begged, “it’s honestly not worth the potential outcome.” He gestured to Cameron’s belly, “what if one day your husband takes it too far, what if he hurts your baby?”

Cameron finally broke down. He didn't know when he started crying. He cried and cried. He couldn't stop. All the emotion drained out of him.
"I don't know what to do... I have no one to help me permanently.... My life sucks."

Reece pulled Cameron into a hug, it seems he had done this a few times today. “Calm down and breathe, you can live with me until you can afford your own home”, he said, “but please don’t go back to that man”.

Cameron felt safe in his arms. From an abusive husband and other worries. He cried more and more quietly, calming down. Finally, he fell asleep from exhaustion leaning against his shoulder.

Reece kept an arm around Cameron, noticing his crying had stopped and his breathing had slowed. He looked down and saw his eyes were shut, he had fallen asleep on him. Unsure as to what he should do, he laid the man down onto the bed and tucked him in.

Cameron slept for a really long time. When he woke up it was already late morning. He noticed some ointments on the table and a covered breakfast. First, however, he read the note.

‘Cameron,

You may have noticed I am not home, however, I have made you breakfast and left out some things to apply to those nasty bruises. I hope you don’t mind but last night when I tucked you in I saw them again.

I have called you out of work because I’m worried you are overworking yourself, please take this day to rest. When I come home, we can talk properly about last night. I really hope you decide to stay here, with me, I wouldn’t mind the company.

A surprised smile dawned on Cameron's face. He hadn't expected the day off to come so suddenly, and Reece to do so much for him. He ate the breakfast he had prepared, even applied ointment to his bruises. However, he could not sit idle. He started cleaning up at his supervisor's house.

Reece came home tired, he just wanted to fall into bed and sleep. He opened the door to him home looking spotless. “What’s happened here?”, he chuckled, trying to find Cameron.

Cameron was just checking how the soup he was cooking was doing. He wanted to repay his boss for staying the night. He knew he wouldn't accept his money.

He wondered into the kitchen after following a nice smell, “you didn’t need to”, Reece said, “but it sure does smell good”.

Cameron turned around surprised. He sent him a small smile.
"There's only so much I can do to compensate you for my company, unsurprised mostly," he said scratching the back of his neck.

“You don’t need to do anything to compensate, just knowing you’re safe is enough”, Reece explained. He sighed, “now let me change into some comfier clothes”.
