Ken nodded again and breathed heavily and slow.
"Does that feel any better?" She asks, writing his blood pressure on the back of her glove.
"Im not sure" He answered. "Are the babies coming?"
"I believe so, but it's unusual for the pain to be constant. Can I do a quick check?"
"Yes, please do." Ken answered through several deep breaths.
"Little bit of pressure," she reminds before carefully examining him. "Yep, we;re having some babies today," she smiles, covering him back up.
"Oh good." He said "It's about time I have a few."
"Glad you still have a sense of humor," she smiles. "Keep breathing."
"Alright" Ken responded. He took a few more deep breaths.
"Want to try the tub or the ball?"
Ken was confused. "Hmmm, what is the ball?" He asked.
"Just like an exercise ball," she began to explain. "It can help relax you and is another way to cope with the pain."
"Oh I see." Ken said. "I think I would like to try that."
Amanda brings it from the hall supply closet, setting it in the middle of the room. She carefully helps him up. "Doing ok? Dizzy or light headed?"
"No, just in labor I guess." He answered.
She helps him down onto the ball, and kneels in front of him. "Try bouncing a little or rotating your hips."
Ken tried to bounce, but his belly made it too heavy for him to do so. "Um, I don't think I can." He said.
"Okay, just relax then. Can I rub your back or anything?"
"If you think It'll help." Ken said.
"It's all up to you. I'm here to help you be as comfortable as possible right now."
