The Wild Ones [closed]

"Yes. Follow me." The path wasn't easily navigated; Talon led Jax through thickets and bushes, over rocky ground and low undergrowth. Finally, Talon stopped at a small cave opening, mostly hidden by bushes and grasses.

"This will be a safe place. It's hard to get to, and even if the pups are loud, we won't be found."

Jax found the cave to be small, but cozy. The pups nosed at Talon's feet until he settled down to feed them. Jax curled around them so they were protected from both sides and cocooned between them to keep warm.

"I'm tired," Jax said with a yawn.

"As am I. We have been traveling all day," Talon said, leaning over to give Jax a few gentle licks. Pulling away, his tail wagged a bit, looking down lovingly at the pups between them. After eating, they'd promptly fallen back asleep, happily curled up between their parents. "We should make it home within the next two days."

"Home," Jax said with a happy sigh. "I can't wait."

Jax knew he was going to have to go back to work a few days after they got back. He also knew that Talon was going to stay with the pack and not in the cabin which made him sad, but he knew it was easier for Talon to have the pups in the pack. There were so many wolves to help watch the pups while Talon went out on his rounds and Jax was at work. Unlike before though, Jax would be coming back to the pack every night instead of staying in town. He wasn't going to let his pups be raised without him, even if it meant leaving a lot of his old life behind.
