Dean got ready. He and his friends would arrive at the mall together from his house, after they cleaned up the place before his parents got home. Dean had tried asking them what happened, but they said he crashed into his bed early on and locked the door. He had another friend drive him there, not wanting to drive bevause of his "hangover".
