The people of Paturnaxos were an academic sort. Centuries ago they had mastered intersolar travel, and had since studied every system and every planet they had come across. Most were empty, or provided some kind of rudimentary life, which they would intensely observe and measure and record. They would harvest some subjects to run more...extensive tests upon. The limits of the new life's body, it's physical and mental capacity, and possible genetic modifications to existing structures to either suit their needs or answer new questions they came up with in their quest for knowledge.
But never before had the Paturnaxians encountered a species that came close to rivaling their own intelligence, or at the least their own curiosity. That was, until they found Earth. After many years of observing at a safe distance, it came time to adopt the first subjects from this newly discovered planet. Rax, the chief scientist aboard his vessel, found himself waiting in the laboratory as his assistants brought one of the species before him.
