Having finished his work for the day as a less than prominent servant for the reigning King and Queen duo, Lyre wandered his way back towards the unimpressive home he shared with his other. It was much smaller than the large castle he was used to toiling at, and to top, it was settled right on the line of the slums and the middle-class races. It wasn’t a bad house, no, but the area itself was crime infested and had plenty shady characters. Lyre did his best to make it inside quickly; meandering about after the sun set was stupid, and anyone who didn’t engage in devious behavior knew better than to hang around the streets during the evening.

Upon entering, the lithe werewolf plopped his belongings down and off to the side. A hand lifted to push through short, silvery curls, and green eyes fell half-lidded in a tiresome way. Lyre huffed, a short and curt sound, and then continued further into the home. “Aye... are y’home?” he called out abruptly, searching around for his significant other along the silence.

Oakley was at home. He finished his work awhile ago, and now was at home. He was tending to some parts of the home that obviously needed repairs. His hair was a light brown, and his eyes were dark chocolate brown. He had a few cute freckles and a happy smile. He did feel bad about not being able to provide for Lyre better.. he wanted a better home and a better area, but was unable to afford that right now. It was also unlikely that a higher class neighborhood would want a couple of wolves prowling about either.

He perked up at the sound of his love’s voice. “I’m here,” he said happily, walking towards him. He gave him a warm hug. “How was your day today?” He asks eagerly.

Despite being a servant for the royal family, the pay was horrendous. He made enough to get by, but it’d definitely be a struggle if there wasn’t another person bringing in coin alongside his income. His gaze flicks to the voice that calls out in response to him and he puts on a weary looking smile; it may even seem a bit forced. The hug is returned fondly, despite his demeanor. “Same old, same old,” he hummed, brushing off the question a bit. “I’ve got the day off tomorrow, at least. I sort of jus’ want to roll over in bed and call today done.” Lyre pulls back after a moment. “And yours? How was your day, I mean.” The were’s smile grows sheepish.

Oakley gently rubbed at his shoulders to make Lyre feel a bit more relaxed. “Another long day, huh?” He lead him over to sit so he could rest. “Mine was fine. Same stuff every day,” he shrugged. He was a carpenter. He was very talented with his work but was taken advantage of and was not paid well.

“That’s nice! You deserve a day off. You work too hard,” he said, concerned for him. He smiled slightly at him. He so badly wished they could live better than this.

“That it was,” he agreed, heaving another sigh before taking a seat. He didn’t like to complain about their situation as it could be way worse. Most wolves weren’t liked anyways, so to have gotten a house here, amongst other races, and to work for the royal family himself was a blessing in itself. It didn’t stop him from disliking their mundane and routine life.

“It’s rare, but then I’m... back to working through an’ through again.” Lyre rubbed at his face gently and, with a slight stretch, eventually came to stand again. “The couch is comfortable,” he spoke feebly, “but the bed sounds better for now...” Lyre reached for the other’s hand and rugged gently. “Can you sit with me for a little bit? More room there too...”

Lots of others disliked wolves. They were seen as dangerous and nobody wanted them in the neighborhood. Times like this made Oakley wish he was someone else- it wasn’t his fault he was a werewolf. He wasn’t even a dangerous one. He sighed. He couldn’t complain too much. He had a stable job, and a roof over his head at least. He drummed his fingers against the table.

He took Lyre’s hand and held it tightly, rubbing his thumb against his hand. “Yeah, wanna go to our bed?” He stood up a little bit, stretching slightly. He was sore as usual. He took Lyre by the hand and led him off to their room, humming softly.

“That sounds like the best plan I’ve heard all day,” he agrees, trailing along with Oakley as they made their way to the bedroom. For the first time in hours since being stuck in the castle, Lyre finally felt a little at ease. He would not take his evening off for granted.

It was only the week after did he begin to notice a slight change... Was it added weight? He had been eating a tad more, maybe that accounted for the beginnings of the curve to his abdomen. For the time being, it was shrugged off, and he paid no mind to it. Another day done at work found him home yet again where, instead of calling out to Oakley, Lyre carefully treaded into their bathroom and took a seat on the floor beside the toilet. It wasn’t the prettiest place, but feeling as though he were going to throw up his meals from earlier, he couldn’t care any less about the state of the place. Lyre closes his eyes and takes in some deep breaths as if it might stop himself from spilling over.

Oakley was outside of the home, reparing the danaged outside. Fhe place was rundown and he felt like he was always fixing it! He saw Lyre enter the house quickly, and pretty much ignoring him. Oakley frowned. Did he hurt his feelings? Was he mad? He brought his tools back inside and followed Lyre.

“Hey Lyre you alright?” He called cautiously, sniffing the air. He looked for him and found him in their bathroom. “Oh dear are you sick?” He didn’t look so good.
