C Tactics: Grimoire of Midgar (Closed w/SazzyP260)

It was a subject on everyone's minds during these trying times. Remakes. There was the Resident Evil 3 Remake, coincidentally released amid the pandemic. Not a bad game for anyone wanting to relive 90s nostalgia. In fact, Kylar made it his priority to purchase it. Why? Well, amid being quarantined within the confinements of his apartment, he knew his roommate would certainly purchase Final Fantasy 7.

The best of both worlds, right? To build up on the hype of it all, he figured why not; Why not buy the games that helped create the realm? Crisis Core, Final Fantasy 7, the film Advent Children and of course, Dirge of Cerberus. He would play them in those particular order due to their chronological events to get a good sense of the universe once again. At the moment, he was now on the original game, navigating Cloud through the slums of Midgar before pausing it. None of this would have a strong impact if his roommate wasn't there to witness or play it themselves. As a result, he waited on them to return, Kylar standing up to go get a beverage and snack.

Brayden had only stepped out for a few minutes so he could pay for their dinner, he came back with two boxes of pizza and a big thing of wings to share "Okay... Got the food. You got the drinks?" He glanced at Kylar as he passed, smiling fondly in his direction. It was no secret, really, that Bray liked Kylar, it was hard not to like him. They'd been roommates since college and they carried that tradition on past college, living in an apartment near both of their jobs. Brayden was a website designer, so luckily he was able to work from home through this pandemic.

Bray set their food down on the coffee table and opened everything up, grabbing a napkin and a slice of pizza "How far did you get?" He mumbled around his slice, glancing at the TV and quickly tracking over the dimmed pause screen that showed the game in the background still "Find anything cool to kill while I was away?"

Pizza and Wings sounded divine amid a dark living room with a video game playing. Kylar just had the simplest of tasks in preparing some soda and something a bit stronger for the two of them. Kylar was aware that Brayden liked him. It would have been a bit stupid of him to not be aware of those sorts of things. Kylar just did not know how to really approach it, only subtly letting him down gently if those moments got to be a bit tense. Tense in that Kylar wasn't sure he could reciprocate because he was still sort of figuring himself out.

At least with a video game, he didn't have to figure whether he liked them or not. He was all the way in for them! "Not too far, really. Just finished Crisis Core and the first Boss Battle on here. Now, I'm just getting a few items."

The boss was probably as cool as it was going to get. One thing Kylar truly appreciated about modern games over older classics was that dialogue came with voices. That meant he never had to constantly hit the Cross button on the controller to get talking going. Since this was the classic game, however, he had to press the button constantly or else the game wasn't going to get anywhere.

He set the drinks down on the table, plucking up one of the dry wings, one that wasn't dripping with Buffalo Sauce and other flavors Brayden picked out, that was.

"Glad to see you're back safe and sound though," he teased. Wiping his hands, he picked the controller back up, resuming the game. He took Cloud to an item shop in the game, glancing at all the weapons he could presently afford for the party of characters.

"Yeah. Super dangerous to step out into the hallway and pay the delivery driver." He laughed and shook his head, grabbing another slice and a wing to boot. He curled up slightly and watched as Kylar led Cloud through the shop, eyebrow lifting and head shaking a little "It's crazy, I don't remember half the stuff from this game..." There were several odd looking objects floating "Like, that..." He pointed with his sauce-covered finger toward a floating tablet-looking device "I'm fairly certain that was not in the game when I played it when I was a kid..."

The tablet was, of course, was actually a book with weird hieroglyphic Final Fantasy-style writing on the cover. It had a strange blue glow around it but there was nothing that screamed 'out of the ordinary'. Everything in the game looked like that; weird, out-of-place, didn't belong in the real world, let alone a game semi-based off the real world "Wonder how much it costs and what it does." Brayden mumbled around another bite of his pizza.
