I'm not giving this a specific setting. Its set somewhere not seen in the games before, somewhere with a decent population to start)

War...war never changes.

When the bombs dropped on that fateful day in 2077, much of humanity was wiped off the planet by nuclear fire. Those who survived were forever changed and forced to live in the desolate world the war left behind.

A select few would be spared that fate, safe and secure in the underground Vaults. Many consider them lucky, but for most living in the vaults, they were far from lucky.
Vault-Tec used their vaults for experimentation. Having an isolated population of humans made it easy. Many will never know the horrors that happened inside the vaults, but some continue their sick experiments.

One such vault is Vault 115, still sealed beneath a crumbling hospital. Its original inhabitants thought it was a place of safety, but soon learned they were the guinea pigs for yet another of Vault-Tec's sick experiments. The men of the vault were to be used in an attempt to give them the ability to become pregnant and give birth naturally. Using modified Auto-Doc machines, they grafted cloned female organs into the men, then injected them with a modified strain of Forced Evolution Virus (FEV). initially, there were many failures. But eventually they found the right mix and succeeded in creating the first true hermaphrodite humans.

Exposure to the FEV rendered the women sterile, and after one generation, they were gone. Now only the men remained. But there was an unforseen problem. In the process of getting the organs to fuse with the subjects, new DNA was introduced. And after only two generations, it began to show. These men would come into estrus, or heat, like a cat or dog and beg to breed. Of course the others complied. But another issue quickly became apparent, the pregnancies were getting shorter, lasting only a few weeks now. with overpopulation came strain on food and water supplies, and eventually lead to violence. Only one managed to escape through the massive gear door, leaving his home to its fate.

Climbing through the rubble of the partially collapsed hospital, Tobias had no idea what to expect from the world outside. He could see the sun shimmering through the broken glass and holes above him, urging him on until he found his way outside. One hand raised to shield his eyes, he squinted at the ruined city around him. He was only 18 years old and had only recently come out of his first heat cycle. He had already been bred and would likely only have a few short weeks to find somewhere safe to give birth. And from where he stood, it seemed like he was completely alone, sticking out like a sore thumb in his bright blue vault suit.

"Hello? Anyone out here?"

The male was out on patrol before the night would fall. That perhaps was one of the fortunate things he loved. Although it did not reduce the risk of those beasts still coming out in the day, Trevor was not keen on encountering a Deathclaw at night. Those of all the things roaming in this desolate world perturbed him the most. He gripped his rifle extra tightly just even thinking about it. He continued his path through the outskirts of the city when he heard the voice and instantly the gun was raised, the scope drawn to his eye.

The sun was on the verge of setting, but the colors stuck out the most. The person under his sights was in a very loud blue jumpsuit.

"Who's there" Caleb commanded, though he did his best to give a deep and intimidating voice as much as possible. The light brown skinned male kept his distance because his gun really was no good at a close range. He hoped the figure was not hostile however. While he fancied driving his bullets through the skulls of a few raiders and ghouls, maybe there was a slight chance this person was not going to be a stark raving mad figure wandering the wastelands. "Keep your hands where I can see them."

He thought that sounded like the most reasonable thing to say.

Tobias listened to his words echo through the ruined buildings around him, such an empty sound. Nothing like the way voices filled the space within the vault, making it feel warm despite everything wrong with it. Out here, it felt cold and empty...He felt his heart sink as he waited those long minutes for any kind of response. He didn't know the dangers of making too much noise out here.

But he suddenly heard a response, head darting about to try and figure out where it came from, only to be met with a man raising a gun in his direction. He was frozen for a moment, staring at him with wide eyes, nearly as blue as his suit. But his second statement finally reached his mind and both hands shot up, palms forward and open, showing he had no weapons. And he clearly wasn't hiding any in that tight blue suit.

Thankfully he was met with someone who still had their wits. Not a drugged out raider....or worse. "I....I'm not armed." He stammered, hoping that was a good thing to say.

The young male moved closer to Tobias, slowly, out of his position. When he fully examined the male up and down, he almost wanted to chuckle. The suit seemed a bit funny to him, but it was a bit recognizable. At least for someone like Caleb, who went into a few vaults to possibly scour around for equipment for the Minutemen. That usually bore no fruitful results.

"It looks to be in good condition..." He was referring to the suit itself. Most people he came across were well dead, the suits well beyond wearable, though Caleb wouldn't dare put on such a thing. The male pulled the goggles off his face and moved around the male to size him up, even though it was quite clear he was not wearing any kind of a weapon. "It's a bit dangerous to roam around without some protection. Where did you come from?"

Of course he would have to report this in as much as possible, but hopefully the male did not prove to be hostile. Appearances were always deceiving, but the male rubbed his beard a bit to indicate he was thinking. He would have to go out on a limb and assume the figure before him was not hostile.

"You can lower your arms."

If Tobias was honest, he hated the vault suits. He was rather tall, so his had to be modified to fit, which lead to them not fitting in other areas. Always seemed to ride up in the crotch in such an uncomfortable way. And if it wasn't doing that, it was giving him a wedgie...Sadly, the suits were all they had in the vault. On the other hand, the suit did show off his lean body, slender with somewhat broad shoulders. Some muscle definition clear in his arms and chest. And the suit hugged his backside in a way only skin-tight clothing could.

"Hm?" Came a questioning noise when the stranger commented on his suit, watching him with those intensely blue eyes. He didn't like the way the man was looking him over, making him feel vulnerable. Though, Tobias wasn't a pushover at close range. When he was asked where he came from, he sighed. "The vault under this building...or, what's left of it." He said, pointing in the direction he'd come from. "Its anarchy in there....wouldn't be surprised if they've killed each other." He sighed, face falling.

When he was told he could lower his arms, he sighed and moved to adjust the pip-boy on his arm. He had grabbed it off one of the security guards killed in the chaos. In his panic to escape, he hadn't even noticed a stray bullet had grazed his left thigh. The wound was shallow, but obvious against his suit...Only now did the stinging pain make him hiss and put a hand over it, paling at the sight of blood staining his hand and suit. "Shit." He breathed, not having any supplies to treat it.

"Anarchy, huh? How long have you guys been down there?"

He had heard the stories, but being born on the Earth normally, Caleb never knew what most of the shelters were designed to do. Some of them kept really good loot and probably this vault had just that. Still, he would take the male's word for it and keep his guard up. "Maybe we can go and help--"

His golden eyes stared down and noticed what was happening. The male had a wound and judging by the way the suit was ripped, it was from a gun. Caleb cursed and immediately found himself helping the male.

"Alright, just take it easy. I'll get you to the museum in a few."

He found himself escorting the wounded male through the city, which thankfully there were no raiders or ghouls in sight. That made things a lot easier. He was done with his shift anyways or at least he could falsify and say he went the additional mile. His boot kicked the double doors open and soon they were inside the building, Caleb kicking the door back to close them shut.

"I've got someone wounded" he yelled and helped to ease Tobias to a chair. "Someone will be down here soon to get you checked out." He imagined they would be surprised to see the male wearing the suit just like he had been.

Tobias winced, taking his hand away from the wound. Afraid the dirt on it from climbing through the ruin would give him an infection...He glanced back to the other man when he was asked about the vault, frowning and shaking his head. "I guess since the war...which explains all this.' He said, giving a vague gesture to their surroundings. "I wasn't really sure what I'd find out here....Sure is quieter." He said, pausing at the sound of something exploding quite far away, probably a pre-war vehicle...

He sighed as the stranger helped him, limping a bit on his injured leg. The wound wasn't deep, and certainly wasn't life threatening. But the risk of infection meant he needed treatment as soon as possible. "A museum?" He questioned as they walked, looking around at the ruined city, feeling a little uneasy about how the damaged buildings leaned against each other. "I don't think we can help the people in the vault...There was a revolt against the overseer....and then he activated the security robots....its chaos." He said, shaking his head again. "I was lucky to sneak out like I did...I even closed the big door behind me." He added, feeling a bit guilty he locked them in.

He looked with wide eyes as they entered the old museum, looking around quickly at everything. It was a good choice for a settlement. Still had running water and the building was structurally sound. He stayed close to Caleb, nodding when he sat down in the makeshift doctor's office. Not long after Caleb shouted did a man in an old lab coat show up. He'd been tending to someone nearby.

The man paused, glancing from Tobias to Caleb, then back. "Well, this is certainly the strangest thing you've brought back with you, Caleb." Said the older man with a small chuckle. "A real vault dweller. With a working pip-boy no less." He laughed, moving to give the young man a once over. He took Tobias to a more private area so he could undress and allow him to properly clean and dress his wound. Once he was finished, he put the suit back on and rejoined Caleb.

The doctor washed his hands and turned to Caleb. "Well, Since you found him, I think its fitting for you to help him out. Get him some better clothes, maybe a gun. Show him the ropes around here. Since it'd be a bit unfair to just dump him out the door." He said, giving Tobias a smile. Tobias turned to Caleb, hesitantly holding out his hand. "Umm, I didn't introduce myself....I'm Tobias." He said, giving a hopeful smile.

Caleb smiled a bit, as much as he probably could in this given situation.

"I'm Caleb if Doc didn't say it often enough." He shook his hand and once the male was properly taken care of, Caleb would begin to have the unfinished conversations with Tobias. The first thing, however, was getting the male out of that ridiculous vault suit. Caleb had to inquire, at least, about the fashion choices the people wore centuries ago. Some of them were on mannequins in the museum, but there were more choices in the closet. The male placed his gloved hand on the knob and twisted it open.

"Take whatever you want. I'll wait for you out here."

When Tobias was dressed, Caleb chuckled a bit.

"At least you don't stick out now. Let's look into getting you a weapon now." He led the male down the stairs, talking in between. "So why did you lock them in there anyways? I mean other than the revolt at least."

He kicked a door open with his boots, leading them outside once again, except it appeared to a garden of sorts with fences and makeshift borders to help support the walls. It was a part of this museum.

"Welcome to the shooting range. We've got some guns over there."

He pointed at a crate near a statue almost riddled with bullets.

Tobias smiled when Caleb shook his hand, giving a small nod. He waved to the doctor before following Caleb to get some proper clothes. He looked at what was available, quietly trying things on before settling on a pair of rough looking jeans, a rumpled plaid button down, and a worn looking trench coat. He even found boots that fit.

He smiled at Caleb's comment, setting his folded up vault suit aside and following the man. He rolled up his sleeve and put his pip-boy back on while the man spoke. "A weapon? Is there a lot of danger out here?" He asked, looking worried.

He sighed when asked about why he locked the vault. "They did horrible stuff to us...the overseer and his scientists I mean....I didn't want them out here." He said, shaking his head. One hand subconsciously rested on his lower belly.

He blinked as they stepped outside, looking around again, always so curious about his surroundings. But when Caleb mentioned a shooting range and pointed out the crate, he paused. Then looking at the statue made him frown. "Those are works of art....you guys use those for target practice?"

Caleb looked at the statue and smirked mischievously.

"Sure we do" he said it boldly with a hint of sarcasm that would make it a bit impossible to know if he was telling the truth or just being a goof. He figured, though, with the way that Tobias was looking after telling him that story in the vault, he needed a possible good laugh or something else to turn his attention away. "On Wednesdays, we shoot down the priceless vases inside and on every Monday we rage over the art pieces and set them on fire to keep ourselves warm in case the Deathclaws or the Ghouls come roaming around."

He chuckled. "No, we don't. We actually shoot those over there." He pointed to various cans lined up like it was an actual shooting range. "Raiders did this a while back when we took this place back from them. Their leader holed himself out here and every bullet he fired hit everything but us."

He figured he would have to tell him of the dangers as he did throw out some names already, but for now, he just needed him to learn how to shoot.

"Yea, it's a bit harsh out here than it was....actually, I wouldn't know, but it's dangerous. If the monsters don't get you, the radiation will. Maybe there's some safe haven out there though."

Tobias listened to Caleb, frowning slightly. He didn't quite find it funny when he spoke of abusing the artwork they found in the museum, and didn't catch his sarcasm until he told the truth. "Raiders? Deathclaws? Ghouls? What are those?" He asked, looking a bit worried.

He sighed, opening the crate and choosing a small rifle, thinking having better range was a good idea. He had used a weapon before, but it had been a handgun....and only to defend himself in his escape. He had left it behind when it ran out of ammo.

He looked over his chosen weapon, figuring out the mechanism pretty quickly as he reloaded it. He aimed it at the cans and took a few shots. Missing only once. "I think I'll take this one." He nodded to Caleb. It was about then that his stomach growled loudly, making him pause and frown.

"Uhm....it would be around dinner now....back in the vault." He sighed. He hoped they had pretty normal things to eat...he had always been a bit picky with food.

"I see I confused you. My mistake" he chuckled. "Those three names are some of the dangers that roam out here now after the Fallout. I couldn't tell you when and where they came from. I just know that there are some Raiders and Ghouls that are good and then there are those that just aren't. The Deathclaws though, those are just bad news. Ever see a large horned creature, make it your best bet to run with every fiber in your body."

Running hardly worked too, but he was not going to discourage the male for now. For now, he watched as Tobias picked his gun, helping him here and there only when he needed to. It seemed the male knew how to operate the basics, which was good. They practiced for close to an hour when he heard the male's stomach growling loudly.

"Yea. The sun's getting ready to set. We can retire for the night and see what's being made for dinner."

He led Tobias back inside and shut the door, sealing it as protocol recommended for the night procedures. The smell of some kind of meat and beans was beginning to fill the air the further they went, especially when going upstairs where the kitchen was stationed.

"Some food is often contaminated with radiation. We have to search places that don't have any at times and other times we have to do our best to filter most of it out."

Tobias looked worried when Caleb explained the dangers of the wasteland, looking down at the gun he'd chosen. Raiders sounded pretty straight forward, he'd read about something like that in an old fiction book. But Ghouls sounded like some kind of creature, and he could only imagine what kind of creature would gain the name 'Deathclaw'....whatever it was, it couldn't be good. "I think I'd probably do better hiding from a big horned creature. Don't draw attention, right?" He said, tilting his head slightly to one side.

It took Tobias only a few moments to figure out how everything on the rifle worked, going through the motions of reloading and unloading the weapon several times to get used to it. When he moved to practice, he relied on Caleb's advice for proper stance and handling of the weapon. He was a good shot, staring down his target with those sharp blue eyes. At one point, he found something to tie his hair back with, keeping it in a low ponytail to get it out of his face and keep it from catching in the gun's mechanism.

When his stomach reminded him to eat, he was glad to hear dinner would be being served. He slung the rifle over his shoulder after putting the safety on and followed Caleb inside, watching him seal the doors with a curious look. "I guess more dangerous things stalk the streets at night?" He asked as they headed towards the smell of food. He paused when Caleb mentioned contaminated food, frowning. "I suppose I should take it slow with eating the food out here...My body isn't used to contamination." he sighed. He knew he'd probably end up a little sick tonight...but what worried him more was what the radiation could do if he was pregnant...he still didn't know if his 'mating' in the vault had taken.

Caleb shrugged.

"From what I read, hiding doesn't do much if they smell or just see you in their sights. It's either you fight or run and the former really isn't as good as it sounds. Hopefully you don't encounter it though. These doors usually help keep the worst out."

Of course they would naturally work to protect against the likes of Raiders and Ghouls, but he's yet to see anything capable of handling the large monsters. Still, there was no need to cause Tobias panic, someone who was green to the new world.

"The food isn't bad once you get some rad-x in your system. Some people like to eat it without it though which makes things worse." He reached into his pockets and pulled out a box of pills. "Just take this and you should be fine to eat the food. Of course, we need to scavenge for more since its in high demons everywhere."

Caleb led him to a room that served as a makeshift dining room. Various figures were all sitting at tables waiting on the meal to finish being prepared. Caleb took a seat next to several men and women that had rifles strapped on their backs and motioned for Tobias to take the seat in front of him. From there he began to introduce him to the others.

Tobias frowned when Caleb said the beast could find him just by smell. He'd read about pre-war animals that used scent, like dogs and snakes, so he suspected this 'deathclaw' was as good as them, if not better. "Well, I'm sure they are pretty easy to spot and avoid...big and scaly doesn't sound like good for hiding. Not that they need to." He shrugged. Thankfully, Deathclaws avoided the city, smart enough to realize that it wasn't worth the energy to move through and find food.

The biggest danger posed by wildlife was from dogs and their mutated ghoul-like counterparts. They could move in packs easily through the city's ruined streets, but were convenient for keeping ghouls away.

Tobias didn't like the sound of needing to use rad-x just to eat. "Ah, well, I mean other forms of contamination....germs and stuff. The vault is pretty sterile, so I'm sure there are lots of things out here that'll make me sick." He sighed, shaking his head. "I'll get used to it though." He nodded. He didn't have a weak stomach.

He took the pills as they headed into the dining area, following Caleb to a table. He noticed some people looking at him and whispering, assuming they had heard about the vault dweller already. His pip-boy did kind of give him away. He sat down with a sigh, greeting the others around him with a smile. aside from the dirt and old ruined clothes, everyone seemed very friendly. Maybe this outside world wouldn't be so horrible.

Caleb shrugged. "I dunno about that. I heard some have the habit to just appear out of nowhere. I just tend to do what I can without bringing myself any more trouble."

There was a mention of contamination, but Caleb could probably assume the male was more nervous to eat anything with possible radiation having a play in the substance. After all, the person before him had been in a vault. There was probably plenty of healthier items down there.

"If it's any consolation, there are some places in the world that are sustainable for living. Getting there would be a pain though." Those were the rumors. Caleb had yet to see it though. If there anything resourceful in their vicinity, chances were the captain would assign a task to search inside. Maybe the male would search inside the moment the sun rose. He was armed and otherwise capable. That had to be more than safe.

Dinner went well. It was a usual night for him. Tobias had to deal with a few stares here and there along with a few random awkward conversations, but that was to be expected. By their standards, he was all shiny and new, an attraction on itself. It was Caleb who got to show him around though. After dinner was over, the male led Tobias up a set of stairs and down a hall to makeshift rooms.

"This is my room, well, our room." He opened the wooden door, revealing a room that had four beds, but only one of them was in current use, which was next to a deal with a lamp and some personal items Caleb collected like bullet shells and the helmet of a raider leader he had the pleasure of driving a bullet through in the center of it. "I'll look for some extra covers and some towels if you need a shower."

He stepped out briefly, returning with covers, a brown pillow and a white towel.

"That's reassuring." He sighed when Caleb mentioned the creatures could seemingly pop up at random. "I guess I'll avoid going anywhere alone." He shrugged.

Dinner was okay, the food tasted off and he avoided asking what it was. He had yet to see any of the wasteland's creatures, but he was sure they were probably eating some of them. He felt a little queasy after the meal, but pushed it aside as he talked to people and introduced himself. They all seemed excited to meet an actual vault dweller, but were sad to head why he left. He never let on what they did to him down there.

He was exhausted by the time they got to Caleb's room, following him in and looking around. "Its pretty nice. At least you have some privacy." He said, giving him a smile. He gave a wide yawn as the other returned, glancing to the towel. "I think I'll shower in the morning. Its been a long day." He said, taking the pillow and blanket and claiming one of the other beds. "I'm gonna turn in for the night. Don't worry about disturbing me, I'm a heavy sleeper." He said, curling up and dozing off.

Early the next morning, he was awakened by his stomach lurching. He scrambled off the bed and found an empty trash bin to vomit into...slumping down on the floor once it was over and rubbing his belly. "morning sickness.." He muttered under his breath before groaning and heaving into the bin again.

"Sure thing."

Caleb let the male rest on the bed. He of course had some more questions, but he wouldn't pester the tired individual. Instead he left the room for a few to shower off and return with a cup full of a dark liquor and a green book, which particularly resembled an old journal of sorts. He read through some of it and wrote a few personal notes inside before calling it a night approximately at midnight. What he jotted down was simple. He encountered the male somewhere around the hospital. Perhaps that's where this vault was at. Fortunately for Caleb, that was within his route.

When the sun was around the horizon, the male was already gone, out on his shift. He was not aware of Tobias's sickness, if it could be called that, and instead focused on securing the area.

His morning wasn't quiet. Some raiders had began to surface, the male taking some out, but four remaining.

"The fled to the old hospital" he spoke through a walkie-talkie. He had every intention of searching the place already and this was just giving him a reason. "Backup is requested. That place is dark. Maybe reroute some power to its location."

He fired another round from his rifle only to miss. He drew the pistol on his side and began to climb down from the makeshift post he was stationed upon. Two were wounded. The other two not so much. He was certain he could handle it. After all, he did scout places out before dangerously heading into a situation.

After vomiting up everything he had, and then some, Tobias managed to crawl into a bed. He ended up curled up under the blankets on Caleb's bed, but at least he wasn't cold or vomiting anymore. He felt terrible, probably a side effect of the meal he had the night before wreaking havoc on his body...

Caleb hadn't been the only one to see the iconic blue suit on the man who crawled out of the hospital ruins. A scout for the local raider gang had reported it to his boss and now they were trying to get into the vault. Most of the gang had gone down into the ruins hours ago, leaving a few up top as guards. So when they spotted Caleb, they opened fire on him. While two were wounded, the other two fled into the hospital to raise the alarm.

"Alright, we'll send some guys. Don't go in there alone." came a crackled voice over the walkie-talkie, but the man on the other line knew he would likely be ignored, so he dispatched some men as quickly as he could.

Caleb watched calmly before going in for the kill. The two that he managed to hurt from before dropped the moment they exposed themselves.

"Mhm" he said to the voice on the communicator. He reloaded his pistol before looking at the four double doors of the hospital. He could, of course, go in there, or he could go another way. He ultimately chose the latter as he opened a side door, intending, if possible, to cut the other two off. He didn't get far though as the alarm began to sound. Still, it was a bunch of raiders attempting to access a place that was over four stories without proper power. It wasn't them particularly he was afraid of though. Still, he pressed onward, moving quietly as best he could.
