Dr. Sommer nodded and smiled. "That's a brave attitude, Nick and of course I am okay with that", he said and smiled. "Oh, yes........Martina is a wonderful and very decent nurse. She loves the clinic and the patients........it's her life..........and it's my life too", the doctor added and smiled again, thinking about his job.
Then he became a bit more serious. "But we have to think about the birth one more time, Nick......it should happen the next days now and if even your mucus plug didn't go off yet, we have to consider an induction", the doctor said as calm as possible, not wanting to scare him.

If there was one thing Nick was adamant about it was not being induced. "No. I'm sorry, but I can't. I don't like the idea of it...These babies will come when they're ready." he continued. "I don't mean to question your medical judgement, but I would rather go naturally than not at all." he said with a very worried look on his face, while he pulled his pants back up over his belly and pulled his shirt down. "I know that I can do it without any help, please Doc." he asked.

Nick sat there as the skilled doctor pondered his request. Nick knew he was being quite unreasonable at this point, but as he seemed to lose control of his own body during this pregnancy it was sort of his way of taking back that control. "Give me a few hours. Go about the rest of your day with your patients and I will hang here for the time being. If I'm not in labor by the end of business today, we can go ahead with the induction." There was nothing more important to him. He rubbed circles on the sides of his belly to keep his daughters calm.

Dr. Sommer took a deep breath..........considering the question. He wasn't happy with the idea of waiting any longer because of medical reasons, but he also could understand Nick. He finally slowly nodded. "Alright, Nick.........then we do it like that.......but don't go to far away from the hospital, could you promise that ??", he asked him, worried, that he would go to far away and then go into labor.

"Thank you, Thank you so much, Dr. Sommer!!!" Nick would have hugged him if he wasn't already on the exam bed, pinned under his enormous dome of a belly. "I can do you one better, I won't even leave the clinic. All I want is a little more time. Maybe have a nurse with me while you're gone...just in case." Nick smiled. "I promise, Doc, I won't let you down."

Dr. Sommer nodded and smiled. "Alright........then I will ask Martina to be a company for you..........and you don't let me down....my sorrow is, that I let you down without wanting it", the doctor said seriously, but with a very calm voice.
Then he stood up from his chair. "Alright, you can get up again........let me help you", he said and helped his patient up.

It took them some time to get Nick situated once he was vertical. Dr. Sommer put in a call to the nurse's station to have Martina report to Dr. Sommer's exam room. Nick was hoping that this last resort of a chance was going to work. However, in the back of his mind he kind of though that it was going to end in an induction. However, there was always a chance that this was going to work. Nick adjusted his shirt and pants to their proper height and length as Dr. Sommer got off the phone. "So is there anything I should be on the lookout for?" Nick asked.

The doctor considered his question. "Well, if you want your labor to start, then you should go up and down some stairs for example and walk a lot in general. The hospital is quite big and furthermore it has a wonderful park, so you should have enough variation", the doctor said and smiled. "The only thing, that would be good, is that you pay attention onto yourself.......be careful with every step and try to relax as well as possible at the same time.......save your energy for the upcoming birth", he added with his friendly voice.

"I will doctor, It might be a little cold out, but I think it's a good idea to take a walk in the park. I saw it walking in. It's quite nice. The soft grass should be nice to walk on. As long as there's a bench to rest on, if need be, I think it will be just fine." he continued, "Plus, these two heaters in here will help with the cold. I swear, I could walk around in Antarctica with in a t-shirt with these little ones in here." he said as Martina knocked on the door to come in. "Doctor, it's martina. Is it okay to come in?" she asked in a soft perky voice.

Dr. Sommer turned around. "Oh yes, please come in", he said and the door opened. Martina entered the room and smiled at Nick, before turning to Dr. Sommer. "You called for me, Doctor ??", she asked with a gentle smile. The doctor nodded. "Oh yes. Martina, be so kind and accompany Nick through the hospital. We try to get labor started naturally and I would like to have somebody with him", he said and smiled.
Martina nodded. "Alright, Doctor.......Nick, would you come with me ??", she asked him. "You can leave your suitcase here", the doctor added.

"Hi, Martina, long time-no see." he joked at the fact that they last saw each other less than an hour ago. Nick's oversized grey knit sweater seemed to be riding up again, thankfully for him, he wore a much longer white undershirt beneath it to cover the rest of his rotund figure. As for his lower half, they were squeezed into a pair of black stretchy maternity yoga pants. Since he couldn't really afford to buy more paternity clothes they were hand-me-downs from his mother's own twin pregnancy. They seemed to be only thing that fit Nick now. "I think I have those same pants." martina smiled at him to make conversation as they slowly walked out of Dr. Sommer's office. "Great!" he said with an almost faked smile. he didn't like the idea of wear his mom's pants, but it was better than spending $150 on clothes he would only need for a week or two.

"Alright, Nick. Where would you like to go to ??", she asked him, while leaving Dr. Sommer's office. The young 19 year old guy impressed her......especially the fact, that he handled his pregnancy so well.

"Well, I don't know how far I'm going to get lugging these two freeloaders around." he joked. "Honestly, I don't really know the grounds that well. I just thought we'd start walking and you would kind of be my unofficial tour guide." he smiled at her. Nick enjoyed Martina's company. She was the only person here who was remotely Nick's age. "We can either walk inside or outside. It's up to you. I have no preference."

Martina started to laugh and nodded. "Alright, then I will just show you the hospital and we stay inside at first.........it's quite cold outside today", she said and smiled, slowly walking down the hallway with him. "Do you already have names for your two babies ??", she asked him curiously.

Yes I do, This is Emma," he said putting his hand on the top of his belly, "these are her feet, her body, and her head is right here." Nick said pushing on their respective places. "And this is Jacqueline" he moved his hands "She's a bit lower than her sister. Her feet are here...her body comes to about here, and her had is way down here." he said locating the various spots. "Sorry for the guided tour, I just had an ultrasound with Dr. Sommer so it's fresh in my mind." he awkwardly chuckled. "So what about you? any kids? brothers or sisters? grandkids?" Nick joked.

Martina smiled because of Nick's "guided tour". She was amazed how professional and relaxed he handled his pregnancy. To be pregnant as a man is already a quite difficult thing from time to time, but to be nineteen years old and pregnant was something she couldn't imagine.........But Nick seemed to be quite confident about what he was doing. Many young fathers in his age are very scared and unsure about the process they are going through...........Nick must have had an enormous support from his family.........and furthermore he seemed to be very proud of becoming a daddy soon..........
"Well, I've got........HEY !!", she suddenly said with a high voice, now understanding his joke with the grandkids. "No, I have no grandkids.......I am not that old, even if I may look like that........I am just 24", she said with artificial indignation to do a little revenge on him. Of course she wasn't angry, she just wanted to see, how cool he would stay now.........

Despite his confidence and knowledge of his own body, Nick was still a teenager. There were still some maturity and social differences between a 19 year old and a 24 year old, which is probably why he didn't pick up on Martina's playful personality. "I'm sorry, didn't mean in it that way, it was just a joke." he said stopping on their slow stroll around the clinic. The two continued on walking, Martina following Nick's lead in pace. His hands were on either side of his tremendously round belly almost as if to steer it. "How many deliveries have you been to?" Nick asked Martina.

Martina shook her head. "Oh no, you don't have to be sorry. I just made a joke myself", she said and giggled. "But I have a younger brother called Tim", she explained and smiled, before considering his next question. She liked his curious character a lot. "Wow, that's a difficult question", she began and thought about it. "You know, it's very often the case, that Dr. Sommer is the only person in the delivery room with the father and the mother, both fathers or the father only.........he does those things very often on his own, because he wants to guard the private sphere of his patients.......", she explained. "But sometimes he needed help and therefore he always had chosen me, because.......well, because he thinks I am competent I guess", she added. "But if I sum up all deliveries......those would be.....well.........about 80", she said and smiled.

"Wow, that much...that's 79 more than I've ever been to...well after the next few days 78. I was at my own birth, but I really don't recall anything from it." he laughed. "Are you going to be with us during my labor and delivery?" As Martina and Nick spoke, Nick started to slow down, he was starting to feel something wet and sticky in his butt. Deciding that he at least needed to wipe, he took another step or two until he quietly leaned into Martina and asked, "Is there a bathroom around here?" he said blushing due to a slight embarrassment.

Martina started to laugh about Nick's joke, before considering his question. "Well, I don't know yet......if you wish, then I will be there", she said and smiled, as he suddenly stopped and seemed to need something. As he asked her for the bathroom, she quickly nodded. "Yes, just the hallway down. I'll show you", she said with a smile, slowly walking down with him. His belly was huge and she had to smile because of that and because of the fact, that it carried two wonderful babies inside.
Some minutes later, they arrived at the bathroom door. "Here we are", she said and smiled, opening the door, so that he could enter more easily. "If you need anything, then just let me know", she added and smiled.
