Kyle put the Pokedex in his pocket, and the Pokeballs in his bag. "Thank you Professor Oak" he said gratefully. "Ready to go Squirtle?" Squirtle cried out happily in response.

"Wanna travel together, Kyle?" Sean asked.

"Sure!" Kyle replied, "That sounds like a great idea."

Soon, they entered Route 1. As Sean and Kyle walked into the tall grass, they encountered a wild Rattata.

"You wanna battle this one, Sean?" Kyle asked, "or should I?"

"Sure." Sean stood in front of Rattata. "Go, Charmander!" Sean threw his PokeBall and Charmander came out.

"Let's watch this battle Squirtle." Kyle said as he looked on.

"Charmander, use Ember!" Sean said. Charmander used its Ember attack on Rattata.

The ember connects with the Rattata, who cries out running away. "Did it seriously just run away...?" Suddenly,an angry cry came out as a Raticate jumped out of the tall grass. "Looks like we angered the mom. Squirtle lets join in here! If our Pokemon work together, we might have this."

"Charmander, us Ember on Raticate." Charmander's Ember landed a hit.

"Squirtle, use Bubble!" The Raticate sidesteps the attack merely getting grazed. "Darn it!" Kyle shouted.

"Charmander, use Scratch." Charmander's Scratch attack hits and dazed Raticate. Sean threw a PokeBall; hoping to catch Raticate.

Kyle watched as Sean tossed a Pokeball at Raticate. The Pokeball dropped to the ground and began to rock.

The catch was a success. "Yes! I caught a Raticate!" Sean cried as he caught his very first Pokemon.

"Awesome job, Sean!" Kyle said giving him a friendly hug. "Can't wait to catch my own Pokemon!"

Soon, Sean and Kyle made it to Viridian City.

"It'll be nice to see the city." Kyle said, "more than the quick aerial view from my mom's Arceops' back, that is."

"I bet." Sean said as they entered the Pokemon Center.

Kyle walked up to the counter, handing Squirtle and his Pokeball over to Nurse Joy.
