When Josh got back to the dugout with a nurse most of the other players were on the field, including Nate. "I should have known he would do this" Josh said angrily to no one in particularly. He pointed out Nate to the nurse even though they would only be able to pull Nate out in emergency.

Nate Knew Josh would be pissed at him but he came here to play a game and he is determined to finish that game. The inning starts and Nate feels pretty good for someone who is in active labor

Grabbing his gear, Josh waddled to first base. He was ready to finish the game on one level, he could rest his back and not have to worry about Nate's recklessness, but he was having a great time and loving the pregnant belly. Josh snapped out of this on to see the first pitch but had missed Nate's call.

Nate makes some pretty good calls with the first hitter and he doesn't even make contact on the ball. He dis trying as hard as possible to stay focused on the game and not the rising pressure he is feeling

Josh is happy about the way the inning is going but hopes that there will be some action, mostly to take his ming off of his upcoming labor. He is nervous about when it will start, and the pain.

Nate continues to feel pressure but is able to focus on the next hitter coming up knowing that the ball will probably end up towards the 1st base side

Distracted by his own thoughts and fears of labor, Josh does not see the next pitch or the ball until it hits him in the chest. The shock more than the pain sends him on his knees, he grabs the ball and keeps a foot on the base and just waits for the batter to come and get out. Once that happens a nurse helps him up. Afterwards his head stays in the game.

(sorry it took so long to reply)

Nate sees Josh get hit and is worried. But once he sees him recovered he knows that he is fine and they go back to the game

(no problem)

Josh tosses the ball to the pitcher, two outs this is looking good, and rubs his belly to both ease the sorriness from the fall and to calm the suddenly kicking babies.

Nate get back into a squatting position and grimaces when a hard contraction hits, almost knocking him over.

As Josh watches the pitch he sees Nate's discomfort and is glad that the batter hit the ball because he is unsure Nate would have fought the ball, even though he was able to take a ball in the chest he is unsure about Nate.

They get out of the inning without giving up any runs and Nate slowly makes his way back to the dugout

Josh catches up to Nate and is there if Nate needs any assistance. "How are you doing?" Josh ask.
Reply

"I'm alright. We just have this half inning and the game is over. I told you I could make it through the whole game" Nate says trying to sound sure
Reply

"Good" Josh said, half trying not to make it obvious that Nate was not convincing him; they had been good friends for too long to be fooled by this. "I had my doubts but you are proving me wrong" Josh added sincerely and patted Nate's hard gut.

Nate gives a half smile "How about you? Any signs of labor?"
Reply

"I've had a few aches but nothing major" Josh answers. "Could be from the fall but I doubt it" he admits.
Reply

"You should get checked out. the pain from the fall could be masking labor"
Reply

"I will see afterwards, besides if it is labor then I can't be very far into it based on the level of pain."
Reply

"That's true. Alright lets finish this game"
