Astien followed as the family led them to a restaraunt. As they were seated, Astien nervously made small talk. "So, what has Marius told you about me?"
"So much," one of Marius' sisters said. "That you're a teacher and you saved his sorry ass from dying."
"I'm glad you're finally settling down, Marius," the eldest sister said. "Being a man for hire can only last so long."
"I'm not that old, Lily."
"Heh, saving him was a bit of a thrill. I had no idea if he would live or not. Those wolfkin got him good, let me tell you. But he's a strong one, and he refused to die."
"That's my boy," Willow chuckled.
"What are you going to do once you're married Mari?" the only other boy said.
"I was thinking about just staying home and taking care of the baby."
"Really you're going to give up crushing bone for changing diapers?"
Astien chuckled. "If only you knew Aiden. He's quite a handful, and he's still in my belly!"
Marius chuckled. "And he's going to be quite the handful once he gets out."
"Kids are always a handful, no matter the age," Willow said. "Grandkids, though, I can handle grandkids."
"Becuase you're not with them all day." one of the daughters piped up.
"She's got you there. I work with children of all ages, I can definitely verify that there's NEVER an age where kids aren't a handful. Aiden's special, though. He's going to need a lot of love and attention."
Willow nodded. "So what exactly do you teach, Astien?"
"All kinds of subjects, really. Healing, botany and herbalism, basic magic for the children, musical instruction, musical composition and theory, advanced healing in the academy's health clinic in town, a bit of alchemy, biology, health classes, history, writing, a few language classes, cooking and home economics every now and then…"
"Wow, quite the man of all trade then," Willow said. "How is it that my little man found you before anybody else?"
"Clearly, you've never seen me flirt."
"It's adorable when he tries though," Marius said.
"Adorable for you, maybe! It's terribly embarrassing for me."
Willow chuckled. "Well, there's no need to try so hard, now is there? Oh, right we should go get some food."
Astien gave Marius a kiss on his cheek. "Marius, love, could you get mine for me? You know what I like."
Marius chuckled. "One heaping pile of everything coming right up." He kissed Astien's cheek and went off to build a plate.
Astien blushed, and sat waiting for his food.
Marius came back shortly with two plates, one of which was piled high with various foods.
Astien smiled at the large plate of food. He gave his beau a quick peck on the cheek, then began eating with his usual fervor.
"Wow, he can really pack it away, can't he?" one of Marius' sisters piped up.
Marius chuckled. "We once went up against each other in an eating contest. He nearly beat me and he started after I did."
