Before Cormac realized what he was doing, he was kneeling beside Astien with a hand on his stomach. "Hey little guy. I don't know if you can hear me or even understand me, but you're worrying your dad. I know we've all been through a lot lately and some of it - most of it - is because of me. I'm sorry about that and I want you to know that I'm here to help your dad and protect you both. Just...Give us some sort of sign that you're Ok."
A small, almost imperceptible voice sounded in the back of Cormac's head. He almost couldn't hear it. "Nothing is your fault. Mother is cold."

Astien went rigid. "D-did you hear that?"
"I-I think so." Cormac smiled, relieved. He added another log to the stove and wrapped a blanket around Astien.
Aston trembled as he felt his belly, truing to coax some kind of movement. Hadn't it just spoken? Why wouldn't it move now? What could possibly be wrong?

The bat on Cormac's head squeaked.

(Sleep now, kisses for yoouu)
"Leave him be for now."
(how long has it been since we all met? My character has been in the background).
(At least 2 months, I think. Honestly, I thought you weren't participating anymore since you haven't responded. IF you want to rejoin, then you should really read what has transpired before doing so.)
(ok. Just that I didn't want my character to be up front all the time. Also been busy with another rp. Just because I said that my character was in the background doesn't mean that I'm not participating, as I am still going to participate in the rp, but not as much as I did at first).
Astien sighed and wrapped the blanket tighter around him. "I don't even feel particularly cold. I hope that's the only reason he isn't moving."
"There's a bath house in my village. That might help. I should wash up before seeing Wyn again." He sat down. "That's if she even wants to speak with me. Or her brothers don't try to kill me first."
"Whose brothers?" Darol asks.
"Why would they try to kill you?" Astien asked curiously.
"I was exaggerating, Astien," Cormac said. "Wyn's brothers never liked me. If you were a noble would you want your little sister hanging out with the son of an escort?"
"I like to think I wouldn't really care, but I see your point. Well, if they come after you, just let me know. I'll freeze 'em in place!" Astien winked.
Cormac chuckled. "I wonder what she looks like now. I bet her hair is still as red as ever."
"I bet she'll be thrilled to see you. If a friend goes away, who wouldn't be happy to see them come back?"
"I suppose so. I'm just so nervous."
"I'm sure there's no reason to be nervous. I bet the first thing she'll do is hug you so hard you won't be able to breathe!"
Cormac nodded and yawned. He was still recovering from his illness. "I'm going to turn in early. Hopefully I'll be able to drive tomorrow. We can take turns. That way nobody has to freeze."
Astien shook his head. "Not a chance. You need as much rest as you can get. You still look like a mess. I'll handle driving tomorrow."
